Fun stage:) It will be interesting to see the full results and see where people are at in their fitness. It seemed like there were quite a few riders struggling more than they should have been.

Brajkovic cheering behind Kloden was my favourite part.

Martin should be able to take the overall but there are several top TTers competing for the podium.

Moinard and Morabito tearing up those mountains in 43rd & 44th. Such pantheons of the PT. :D

TT will decide it.

That 29 second group has some guys who are pretty solid against the clock. Wiggins. Leipheimer. Rogers. Kreuziger. LuLu. Monfort and Van den broeck aren't horrible either.

Still wish Van Garderen had been able to hold on to the second group.

LuLu fails like I predicted ;)
So...does El Pistolero still think he is a mountain goat?

Still think Mollema would have been the better bet

Theres an awful lot of tt specialists in the top 23, thats everone still in contention
you ve got
Kloeden, Martin, Brajkovic, lls, Monfort, Rogers, Wiggins and Liepheimer
I rekkon Martin will dominate it though in 2/3 of the distance 2 weeks ago in the algarve he took 30 seconds out of LLS and Kloeden, expect 40 ish tomorrow

Glad to see Ryder still in the 19" group, his TT isn't super but he won't lose too much there.

@Kurt: TJVG will have his day. Great work by him today, shame there are no points for good teammates.

Why is everyone forgetting Brajkovic as a TTer? Sanchez mk1 and mk2 aren't bad either. Anyway, I doubt anyone can beat Martin now.

Martin is definitely the overwhelming favourite, and Klodi is more than capable of holding on for 2nd. I'd love to see Wiggo tear it up and manage 3rd overall but there are too many good TT riders ahead of him.

You would think the top 5 GC standings tomorrow will read:

1. Tony Martin
2. Janez Brajkovic
3. Roman Kreuziger
4. Jean Christophe-Peraud
5. Wiggins, Rogers, Kloden, Leipheimer.

Yes, Krueziger will make up time on Kloden and finish ahead of Sanchez x 2.
Peraud should finish ahead of Wiggins, Rogers and Leipheimer. Perhaps Kloden? Not sure.

But the top 3 should be the top 3 above IMO.

Taaramae hopefully won't be too far behind and make up time and win on the weekend :D

I know he was a worker today... but if he had managed to hold on to the second group, he'd have a real good shot at a top 10 overall finish even while working in support of Martin.

I have to say, I've been hearing a lot about Martin climbing enough to compete in more mountainous races and I've had trouble buying it. But he was able to hang on today on a climb that gapped riders who I considered superior climbers. So I am very impressed.

And how did the guy who will be a better rider than Evans ever was do?

It's his second year and he's still mid 20's. Still plenty of time to develop and prove me right yet. Come back to that question in 10 years time.

I think he did exactly like he himself thought he would, maybe slightly worse. I personally had hoped for more, but he did say in an interview that he didn't see himself as a GC contender, but wanted to do good nonetheless.

Is Peraud that good a TT?

I know he was French champ a couple years back, but I don't remember too much in the way of ITT results for him last year. He was good at the Pais Vasco ITT last year... but that was a climbing route. In the Vuelta he was 92nd in the ITT. 4:30 behind a guy like Tondo.

Peraud didn't have great form in the Vuelta. He was top-10 in the Worlds TT 2009, I believe.

This result doesn't show much in the way of improvement as a climber since last year. I mean, it's okay, but it's not better than anything he's shown at the Giro.

Was a fun stage until Kloden got the win... FACK... FACK... FACK
3/4 of that win belongs to Jani... that was a really good lead-out...
When I saw Samu in Kloden's wheel I said "hahahaha pwned! Samu will take this win so easy"... damn it... stupid old fart had to win today =/

What a ride from Das Panzerwagen! tomorrow He will win so easy that ITT, His form is excellent! holding up in the mountains and even attacking! TJVG what a work! really good from him, also Rigo! hammering the gap for Rogers and Wiggo... Too bad for Porte =/ He couldnt make the selection =/

Hey what about Carrara! huh??? He was really great today! Vacansoleil sending a pretty clear message to McQuack and the UCI...

Tomorrow:
Martin
Porte
Wiggo
Rogers
Bottle
TJVG
Kreuziger
Lulu
Gusev

Will be a nice battle for the TT!

Yeah, didnt do that well in the tour de suisse last year, lost several minutes on the climb where Gesink won. Thought this climb would be a bit too tough for him, was wrong.
