I suppose if I were riding I would rather crash onto the regular pavement rather than the sharp-edged pave’. But I doubt the pros (successful ones) think that way—they’re focused on how to be correctly placed through there and not about whether they might crash.

My comment wasnt to attack, flog, etc. Red Rick or another poster. I just wasn’t very clear that I was challenging the usefulness of the organizers’ statement.

There’s also usually agreement on shortening races in the rain and taking unnecessary climbs out of already hard mountain stages, neutralizing certain descents and of course making sure no Giro stages are over 200km.

Or, go on the attack and make sure to get a big enough gap that even if they slow down slightly before entering the Arenberg, they still won't get caught.

Of course, there are also the guys whose job involves making sure their captains are in front for the entrance to Arenberg, while they themselves can take it more easy.

Yes, and not following wheels on a climb is game over for many riders. So what do you suggest? Removing every difficulty in a race so they all end in a bunch sprint?

I think the point was that there'll always be a majority for things which make a race easier, as 90% of the participants don't compete for the prizes anyway.

Rue de Croy metal barrier could be made to slide to the side? and there are concrete blocks on the other end of the road. in any case it's better than Rue Lambrechts where you would ride in ppl courtyards basically, with trees and poles

I think we should have them enter the forest at a completely different point and have them make their way to the other side on foot. Just seems more fair imo.
