Yep. I'm just passing along info, not saying I'm excited about it. I am interested in what it might do to the racing, as I think Volderke's points about the speed are good ones.

"I" didn't hear anything. I quoted an article which I linked. Spoiler: Exactly to your point, they don't say, which is why I said "at least some".

Folks, this ain't Twitter. Everything doesn't have to be a battle.
I see it does look like a response to you—-sorry, it was my imagined response to the organizers. It doesn’t give us much context if they have statements from a few riders who would approve, since we still don’t know what most riders or teams think.

Sorry. I may be touchy today, seems to be cropping up in several places. Cheers.

I think you raise some interesting points. The forum isn't Twitter - everything doesn't have to be a battle. It would appear nearly everything is an emotional back flogging here.
The forum isn't Facebook- everything doesn't have to be a batshit conspiracy theory. We've had some good ones.

Isn't adding these chicanes just going to increase the risk of crashing before the cobbles? It's not going to reduce the chance of a crash just transfer where it is likely to happen

I suppose if I were riding I would rather crash onto the regular pavement rather than the sharp-edged pave’. But I doubt the pros (successful ones) think that way—they’re focused on how to be correctly placed through there and not about whether they might crash.

Both Laporte and Van Baarle have been ill or injured or underperforming, any chance they will be sharper by Sunday?

My comment wasnt to attack, flog, etc. Red Rick or another poster. I just wasn’t very clear that I was challenging the usefulness of the organizers’ statement.

There’s also usually agreement on shortening races in the rain and taking unnecessary climbs out of already hard mountain stages, neutralizing certain descents and of course making sure no Giro stages are over 200km.

This is hardly comparable to that.

Sure, maybe it is not the race for the riders that may feel that way.

If some riders don't want to enter Arenberg at 60 km/h, just DNS the race. It is simple.

Or, go on the attack and make sure to get a big enough gap that even if they slow down slightly before entering the Arenberg, they still won't get caught.

I call BS on your statement. Did you ever try this yourself? And don't tell me pro's are supposed to be able to. Not following wheels into Arenberg is game over so there is no choice for these guys.

Of course, there are also the guys whose job involves making sure their captains are in front for the entrance to Arenberg, while they themselves can take it more easy.

Yes, and not following wheels on a climb is game over for many riders. So what do you suggest? Removing every difficulty in a race so they all end in a bunch sprint?

Since when is a climb of comparable risk or danger as the run in to Arenberg?
I think the point was that there'll always be a majority for things which make a race easier, as 90% of the participants don't compete for the prizes anyway.

Would love to see Pollit grab a podium. Mathieu the obvious favourite but you need luck as well as skill to win a Paris Roubaix. Just ask Gianni Moscon.

Yeah: I hadn't gone around it with the little yellow man. Rue Lambrecht looks more hazardous than safe too. Not clear how they would slow the peloton though.

Rue de Croy metal barrier could be made to slide to the side? and there are concrete blocks on the other end of the road. in any case it's better than Rue Lambrechts where you would ride in ppl courtyards basically, with trees and poles
