His dishonest humility is just galling. He PLAYS a nice guy for American audiences. Obviously, it works on women who look like his mother too.

Publicus hit the nail on the head on page 1. Agree with all he said.

If I were Levi or Klodi, after Lance gave this press conference I'd step up and say that I was going to concentrate my 2010 season around winning the Tour, as the team needed a top contender to lead it and should focus around me, as someone needs to step into the leadership role. Curious what LA would think about that. OF course, neither Levi or Klodi will say or do such a thing, as they are subservient to Lance and submissive personalities, and getting well paid to not say such things.

It's alarming how much that cut and past that RR put up seems to apply to LA.

I think what's also amusing about all this is Lance saying how he would be stronger next year. After saying the team wasn't built around him. The sad part about it is considering how dark this guy's past is, and how obsessive and demanding he is of order, that he would try to get so many amateur riders under his wing. It's like John Gotti recruiting more kids off the street.

It is a shame the way the media swallows all LA has to say whole, with almost no dissenting commentary from anyone other than a few who are quickly attacked, discredited or smeared (Walsh, Kimmage). Even Phil Ligget and the Versus crew won't utter a single breath these days. Very sad.

Its important to mote that Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin are paid by Livestrong. Phil & Paul alike most commentaors are "freelance". ie they are not working for a TV station. They sub out their Tour commentry to all English speaking stations.

I also fear CyclingNews are also being paid but I haven't had this conformed as yet. I'll keep digging.

SSDY.
I'm sure Contador is rushing down the bookies to place a bet on himself, on the strength of this latest proclamation.

Jeez, looks like you can fool half of the people, all of the time.
Still, shouldn't there be despair amongst the fanboys, since they believe, there is only one credible source on Lance......and that Lance.
Guilder sounds like its close to tears time.

Disagree about LL or the Frieburg Phantom stepping up to the plate. Nice, in theory, but could backfire badly, when the ego kicks in and they'll soon be buying their own wheels.;)

Stupid poll. Stupid pathological hate mongering respondents.

I have to agree with Guilder. Whether LA needs help psychiatric help or not is an issue for him to deal with. Those who have direct contact or business dealings with him would do well to understand his foibles. But to spend so much time and effort denigrating a public figure, who couldn't care less, and whose public image is undamaged except for those within this very small group, bears a little psychiatric consideration of it's own.

I've met LA, and yes, he's pretty much an ***, but why the hell should I care. He can still ride a bike and compete at the highest level. As a fan of cycling why should I care that he is a narcissist? There are plenty of them in every sport. The biggest flaw in sports is confusing athletic achievement with moral character.

Tiger Woods can still knock a golf ball around a course better than anyone else in the game. Why should I care if he cheats on his wife? I've never elevated him to a position of importance that would make that matter. You might all do well to accept LA as a fact of life in this the sport that you cannot change... And move on.

Wow. It's like we've finally found the flaming master in our midst. All Hail the Great CycleGeek! Now, silence . . . he's going to drop another witty comeback. I'm hoping for up your nose with a rubber hose. Or I know you are but what am I!

It's like second grade all over again.

Words well stated, unfortunately for most posters it will go in one ear and out the other. You hit too close to home and it will be ignored. One can only laugh at the irony of it all. :D

The list was a cut and paste, I did not add anything.

He actually writes about in his book about how he was a pyro as a kid.

Cut and paste from what?

I have a DSM on the shelf by my desk. I assure you it's not from there.

Adults are capable of understanding that different people have different opinions, and accept that -- live and let live.

Actually, most kindergarten kids grasp that concept, too.

Too bad some of the users here can't.

As always: cool it with the personal crap. Or else.

Susan

It must suck always having to play hall monitor on these threads. Do you at least get a decent sash? :)

I'll try to keep my snarky responses to a minimum.

Yet another thread whereby those who claim to despise Lance, discuss him ad nauseam. I'm even a fan of the guy, and I don't discuss or even think about him this much. Really is ironic isn't it? Actually, it's quite pathetic.

I'll step aside now, and let you continue your diagnosis. I hope it makes you feel better about yourselves....really I do.

And since you all are so keen to discuss Lance's psychological state, any of you ever read Freud's theory of Psychological projection? Just curious.

I am not sure what is more comical, when the groupies cry like babies when someone questions the myth or when somebody says we should not question if Armstrong is a *** or a narcissist.

Armstrong is a public figure who for years has made multiple questionable public claims and actions. To ask that we should sit by and not question his ofter ridiculous claims and behavior is ludicrous.

I understand that many of his fans are embarrassed by his actions and would prefer that nobody question his dubious claims.....but that is not going to happen.

I feel so silly. All this time I've been projecting my own attributes onto Lance. Now, with your help, I've realized that I was actually the one who was bitter about finishing 3rd to Contador. I took his car on the day of the TT. I was actually the one twittering nonsense about Contador. RadioShack is actually built around...ME!

Johan, get out from under my desk. We've been discovered.

Catlin, an easily forgotten episode for Lance fans.

I heard Don Catlin was a dealer and was addicted to smack.

Oh wait, maybe that was some other cancer lover. So hard to keep track.

As has been pointed out, it's whiner, not winer, although, I would gladly hold my hand up to being one of the latter.:)

Now, as to why we Lance realists would be unhappy about him fetching water for Contador's old domestiques, is beyond me.
We should all hope he's on the level, for once.

For Lance believers, on the other hand, this annoucement must be a great disappointment.
As I have already said, assuming his true fans really do believe all he proclaims.

What is interesting is that, of the 20 odd people who have voted in the affirmative, not one has posted of their belief and sentiments, in this respect.

Well I voted yes, and I think the responses from the fanboys on this thread prove that was the correct answer. Lots of people swallow the Lanceaid.

Dude...enlightenment shines on you. Hey, now that these people have solved our problems, and shown us the light, what say we do some yoga and drink so wheatgrass?

I guess my question to people like VeloFidelas is, if you spend time decrying those who are discussing a topic you find pointless, what explains the pointlessness of your post? I posted about Lance and you posted about those of us who post about Lance. I live my life, so why should you care what I do? You might all do well to accept me as a fact of life in this forum that you cannot change... And move on.

Dude, enlightenment is bitchin'
