It is a shame the way the media swallows all LA has to say whole, with almost no dissenting commentary from anyone other than a few who are quickly attacked, discredited or smeared (Walsh, Kimmage). Even Phil Ligget and the Versus crew won't utter a single breath these days. Very sad.

You'll be happy to know that the new issue of CycleSport is incredibly critical of Armstrong in this month's cover story about his 2009 comeback. Although yes it's sad to see yet another cover article about Pharmstrong.

May I ask, who are the two out of the top 20?

That story has passed by me unnoticed for some reason. I won't ask for a reference, just a couple of names would be great though?

Cheers.

I don't know if they ever officially said... and I got my numbers wrong going from memory. They retested 15 people from the 2008 tour in September due to "suspicious blood values"... all from the top 20. Kohl and Fofonov were already found guilty, so that means 15 of the other 18 were tested.

Nobody was found to be positive... they just had "odd values".

The rumors as to who was not tested were Moinard, Casar and Vandevelde.

So you'd be looking at Sastre, Evans, Menchov, F. Schleck, Kirchen, Sanchez, Valverde, Valjavek, Efimkin, A. Schleck, Krueziger, Astarloza, Siutsou, Botcharov and Nibali.

I have to agree with Guilder. Whether LA needs help psychiatric help or not is an issue for him to deal with. Those who have direct contact or business dealings with him would do well to understand his foibles. But to spend so much time and effort denigrating a public figure, who couldn't care less, and whose public image is undamaged except for those within this very small group, bears a little psychiatric consideration of it's own.

I've met LA, and yes, he's pretty much an ***, but why the hell should I care. He can still ride a bike and compete at the highest level. As a fan of cycling why should I care that he is a narcissist? There are plenty of them in every sport. The biggest flaw in sports is confusing athletic achievement with moral character.

Tiger Woods can still knock a golf ball around a course better than anyone else in the game. Why should I care if he cheats on his wife? I've never elevated him to a position of importance that would make that matter. You might all do well to accept LA as a fact of life in this the sport that you cannot change... And move on.

Okay got it. He's an a-hole, you admit it, now let's all just keep quiet about it. Shhhhhhh!

"The days of this team being built around me are done"

I don't see what all the fuss is about here - he said the team is not being built around him - and I am sure that would be confirmed by:
His Director Sportif
His loyal Domestiques
His Agent
His Lawyer
His Management Company
His PR team
His Doctor
His Chiropractor
His Mechanics
His Chef
His TV crew
His Photographer

What other riders were at the press briefing?

Of course they're all lying, cheating, bribing and bullying.

If they weren't... well they'd be admitting they were dopers and riding clean.

They're not. Some are just better at appearing to be "good guys" then others.

It takes an egotistical liar to become a good cyclist today. If you're a nice guy riding clean... you're a domestique.

No, if you're a nice guy riding clean, you're finishing 10th at your local masters crit.

yeah, I actually spit out some morning coffee when I saw that headline...would have made more sense in the onion...

I will quote myself...again...the idea that Armstrong tells the press this team is not built around him is simply an ONION article...noone can read that without guffawing...so be it...but come on, it's a ****ing joke to say that in public and expect people to buy it...unless of course you buy your own bull**** to the nth degree...

They're likely trying to make up for omitting any image of the actual Tour winner from their issue covering the Tour and instead had Armstrong pictured prominently on the cover. How a magazine that covers the sport can justify
disrespecting the Tour winner like that is beyond me. Whatever sells magazines I guess.

Well, that is the point of making a magazine...

... can't pay the rent in respect.

Lance DOES have a different mind set from years gone by...

Sure, he will try to win the Tour - but if he can't, he would be happy if a RadioShack team mate won. And if that can't happen, he would be happy to see ANYONE else BUT Alberto win. I would not be suprised if The Shack forms alliances with other teams to try to defeat Alberto.

And that is a very different Lance from what we have ever seen before.

------------------------------------------------------------
The Tour de France is coming,
and Lance is getting thin.
Won't you please cut the guy some slack for trying to win.

Now if Lance can not win the Tour,
Levi/Kloden will do.
And if those guys can't win it - Alberto F U !

All it will take is for Lance to get a sniff of the win, still be in contention 10 days in and it will be 1 for all and all for Lance. Levi and Kloden will tire themselves out to the point that when Lance finally is dropped from contention (probably loosing enough time in one mt. top finish) the others will be too tired and too far back to do anything.

That is my point - Lance will be different next season (2010) IMO.
We are not talking about this season...
I think that is what TFF was kinda asking about.

Priority #! will still be himself in 2010 - of course.

But there will actually be, for the first time ever, other priorities - Priority #2 RadioShack win.

Priority #3 - keep Alberto from getting TdF win number three.

Gosh, who will Greg be rooting for next year...neither Lance or Alberto;)

Ok not picking a fight but here's my view.

(1) I don't think he'll be different next year, come July the other 8 guys in the Shack TdF team will be working their a$$es off for him, regardless if he's in the best form or if Levi or Kloden has better form.

(2) No he might allow Popo or someone else to go for a stage win(provided he's already won a stage), but for the overall NO WAY! Look at last years Giro he only helped his best friend Levi(can't remember the stage), when the pace in the lead group got a little to hot for Armstrong to handle, then he dropped back to "help" Levi.

(3) He's got more chance of that happening than someone from the Shack winning the whole thing. But come the climbs the moment Contador or Baby Schleck or a few others hit the gas, the Shack could have a 30 man team and they wont be able to pull back/follow.
Also I don't buy into this whole "theory" that has been doing the rounds that he'll be stronger this year than he was last, sadly for everyone even 7 time TdF winners Father Time catches up with everyone, just ask Gibo.

Thanks for not picking a fight, because you would have kicked my ****:)

What you say makes sense.
The fans of Alberto and Andy should have an enjoyable time watching the Tour. The battle for third between SKY/BMC/Radioshack/LGAS/ETC could be entertaining too.

Current odds from UNIBET FYI:

Contador Velasco, A 1.65
Armstrong, L 6.00
Schleck, Andy 6.00
Evans, C 20.00
Wiggins, B 22.00
Basso, I 25.00
Gesink, R 25.00
Valverde, A 25.00
Menchov, D 30.00
Rasmussen, M 30.00

Sanchez, S 35.00
Nibali, V 35.00
Leipheimer, L 40.00
Sastre, C 45.00
Klöden, A 50.00
Kreuziger, R 50.00
Schleck, Frank 50.00
Van den Broeck, J 50.00
VandeVelde, C 50.00
Vinokourov, A 50.00
Pellizotti, F 60.00

They have Andy and Lance at the same odds?:confused:

I like Liquigas next year to be the spoiler at the party. I think Nibali (in a contract year) and Basso (also in a contract year) have something to prove.

We will complain about you because maybe we're tired of the intarw3b f0rums becoming the hangout joint for all the dimwits in the world.

I thought I told you to stop posting? Do us a favor. STOP POSTING.

What amazes me is that instead of spending your time tearing down the "liars" in government and in big business, whom affect far more people, you guys just sit around whining about the "liar" Lance Armstrong.

Fail priorities?

I just can't wait until you get sued for slander.
