I just went to that forum, read the last three pages, and I couldn't find any such post, just a couple wondering if Isaac let him get the second place in a classy act, due to all the work that Paul had done...more were lamenting that we never got to see how it unfolded.

In any case, now we know for sure, if there was any doubt: Paul Seixas is the real deal. Pressure will only increase to have him race in July,. There's a lot of money at stake for the organization. A podium seems possible, but in the grand scheme of things, I would wait another year and go for the whole thing. By then, Teddy may not be as strong: right now, he's unstoppable.

Seixas did the fastest time on the final climb up to Siena (San Caterina) out of everyone today. Pretty strong evidence against Del Toro gifting him 2nd. Incredibly impressive ride from the Strade debutant.

Because way too many people belive he lost the Giro because he just couldnt be arsed to pull rather than him being on the limit like the previous big climbs in that Giro

Aside from that, I think he is hugely explosive and that leads to him looking great until he explodes in big races

Who are all those people and why is it such a big issue for you? You might be right in what you are saying, but life is also full of onions. Getting that mad about other peoples opinions is not good. It seems like that is your biggest pet peeve.

And I dont think people "overrate" him by saying or thinking he is one of the better riders in peloton atm. He keeps racking up wins and great performances in big races, as of now.

What mantle? Didnt know Del Toro had one.

Both are two great talents with a seemingly bright future.

If anything, someone like Remco is the one that should look over his shoulder. Vinge and Pog wont be around forever. However, his window of opportunity feels like it is decreasing with these new kids on the block.

it was asked in the transfer thread if there had been any rumours of future transfers . as i said there , i see an armirail shaped hole

but as i dont see gall interested in extending as a helper , i definitely think itd be prudent to go for some reliable help in the mountains when looking ahead

I would consider Scotson for the Tour team as well.

The way I see it, Del Toro sits somewhere in between Purito and Valverde in terms of rider profile. The problem for him is that you need more of an engine and not quite as much explosivity in the climby classics these days compared to their heyday, and in GTs he is going to have similar issues stemming from the biggest mountain stages. So there's a good chance that Del Toro completely fulfilling his potential just means he winds up with a rather Van Aert-esque palmares and an alien-free Vuelta as his biggest career win.

I could believe that he was 59kg a few years ago as a junior perhaps but now it would mean that he would be basically the same weight as Vingegaard but 9 cm taller. I think 64 kg is much more plausible.

This second place is so impressive, but what's even more impressive for me is the way he raced, always in offensive mode with Del Toro in his wheel, and he managed to beat him at the end. He was clearly stronger today.

Reading newspapers from different countries, I get the impression that the hype is pretty widespread. Everyone wants to hear the story of a kid who will one day defeat the invincible ogre.
