Susan In this posted quote of your post you asked DAOTEC to pgive a source for his claims of riders going to certain teams. When DAOTEC did the same thing he has done, he anounced Bobbie Traksel was going to Pegasus and there was no media source about it at that time but he still was right so there does not nessercarily have to be a media link to be correct about a rider going to another team. His knowledge of Goss or Traksel going to Pegasus maybe from an otuside source.

How about giving us some sort of source for this kind of thing? Because otherwise it does tend to sound as if you made it up......

To date there is absolutely nothing linking Matthew Goss to Pegasus except for Datotec's posting.

If a tree fell in the woods but you weren't there to see or hear it fall, does that mean it hasn't fallen?

Just saying.

And you expect me to publish astory on CN that Rider XXX is going to Team ABC based merely on an anonymous posting in an internet forum?

Thank you, but i would rather hold on to my job.

Susan

My point on Cyclingnews being slow and DAOTEC posting about riders going to particular teams are two completely separate poitns as in a post you asked him to post links.

My point about Cyclingnews was completely out of the blue but it was relevant because Cyclingnews imho is slow to report the news.

And I was only responding to your comment on Daotec.

I think people are missing the point here, its fine to post rumours on the forum but Susan is asking for a source, if there is one then she would be able to track the rumour and then depending on the worth she would then be able to publish a story.

You can’t complain that CN doesn’t post articles fast enough and then complain when Susan tries to validate a source which would allow her to do so.

With DAOTEC's comments, I never said you had to type a story on that. I was just saying that your comment to DAOTEC that he/she should post a source was not completely fair.

ON A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT POINT

Ccylingnews is very slow on there stories with transfers. BMC had reported that Tim Roe and Phinney were going to BMC and Cyclingnews were far behind other cycling media outlets such as Velonation on those stories. My point does not just apply for those riders either.

You folks need to give Susan and CN a break here. She's asking for a source/link to give credibility to the post and possibly to also use as basis for eventually posting the news as an article. If their posting of the latest news is not arriving swiftly enough for your tastes then there are always other sources for you to venture. Ultimately most of you will still come back to CN since they have the most comprehensive site, IMO, when it comes to cycling news, forums, tech and results. This is not to disparage Daotec, who has made a major contribution with his insights into transfer news and especially South American riders/teams/race info.

As was stated earlier better to be a bit behind with the news by verifying it is actually news, not simply rumour than to post every speculation as fact and then have to issue constant retractions because of inaccuracies and jumping the gun.

And this is why I read cycling news, for confirmed news and results. For example I know with 92.4 % certainty where Canc and O'Grady are going, if I was a journo I would not publish this story as it is not confirmed by multiple and reliable sources, thats called journalism.

Many other might but they do it at the risk of looking foolish. Something that velonews is more than used to. For rumour, correct or not, I participate in this forum. Although it should be pointed out that the posters who provided the most interesting information have mostly been harassed off the forum.

You know its funny how even though the internet has allowed quicker information to be released, still people want more more and more.

I'm not taking DAOTEC's information as gospel but he's been right so far, so it is certainly interesting.

Yes but the Phinney and Roe stories had reliable sources. It was from the TEAMS OFFICIAL WEBSITE!!!!! If that is not a reliable source then what is?

Let's return to the topic here. Any further such discussion should take place in the appropriate sub-forum, and futher off-topic postings will be deleted.

I apologize for my part in taking the thread off-topic.

Anyone know anything about Daniel Lloyd's plans for next season? CQ have him as either stay or go at Lotto, does that mean he doesn't have a contract for next season? Would be a nice aquistion. :D

I would have thought Matt Lloyd to BMC would have been most likely, but they are probably full.

Well so far only Moos has announced he is retiring so they have 30 riders for 2011 if nobody leaves

CQ have said that possible leavers from BMC are
BEYER Chad
BOOKWALTER Brent
FRANK Mathias
KOHLER Martin
LOUDER Jeff
MURPHY John
NYDAM Scott
STALDER Florian
STEWART Jackson
WYSS Danilo
ZAHNER Simon

And other possible in's are
Albasini
Cancellara
House
King
Loosli
Vanmarcke

I have a feeling that Albasini is not going to BMC as there were rumours much earlier in the season at the same time of when there were rumours about Moinard and moinard has signed with BMC so maybe not.

If they do indeed have Gossy or Mick or any marquee signings they'd be likely to hold it close to their chest until the WC to maximise worldwide media exposure.

If Chris White is confident he'll reach the Pro Tour then you would think that he would have had to have signed a couple of big riders because Pro tour teams arn't led by Bobbie Traksel, Trent Lowe and Thomas Rohregger.
