Thor Hushovd to Pegasus is still on

Again the word is out ...

! There is a clause in Thor his contract with Garmin-Cervelo that states if he became World Champion in Australia he was free to go ...

So no lie ... Thor is on to a Preemptive strike

Increasingly unlikely if this Vaughters interview is anything to go by

About having two world champs next season (Thor & Emma Pooley):

Yes, two world champions….that’s pretty exciting (laughs). I think we seem to have won the transfer season

Who'll go for green, Tyler or Thor:

I can only go off my discussions with Thor. Thor seems to feel like…well, he has won the green jersey and he certainly sees it as a big honour, but he said to me, ‘I can teach Tyler how to win the green jersey.’

I think for Thor, he is making a statement like that as a very, very generous professional person. I certainly need to make sure that he has a lot of opportunities as the defending world champion too. His big thing is he wants to win a Classic, he wants to win Paris-Roubaix.

Aussie's (PT and Cont) who haven't signed yet for next season (feel free to add info if you know anything):

Wesley Sulzberger (FDJ)
Allan Davis (Astana)
Scott Davis (Astana)
William Clarke (Ag2r) - (was trainee)
Matt Wilson (Garmin)
Cameron Meyer (Garmin)

To rank those out of chance to come to Pegasus: Wilson, Davis (And/Or), Meyer, Sulzberger, Clarke.

Wes - Maybe if he wants to join his brother? I doubt FdJ would be keen to lose him though
Alby Davis - Was his Astana contract just the one year? Remember last year people were suggesting Fly V. \
Scott Davis - Meh
Will Clarke - Not sure, did he impress AG2R, or will they not sign him?
Wilson - Surprised he hasn't signed already
Cam Meyer - "I have a contract with Garmin-Cervélo next year, but it ends at the end of 2011, so in terms of 2012 I don't know exactly where I will be."

Is there a chance that they may be holding off announcing some big signings til after lombardia (as a legal requirement?), or is that just wishful thinking??

Allan Davis (Astana)
He tweeted the other day about how he was happy that Specialized was staying on at Astana next year cos of his long association etc. etc. so sounds like he has a contract there.

Sorry, why am I quoting JV when we have your man with a phone :p

thats a rather sexist assumption :D And i said that prior to jv saying anything.

I just got very bored with the huschovd to fly-v rumour that circulated constantly despite several good sources to say it was hogwash.

They need more than Hushovd.

I am Australian, and would like to see an Australian team do well. But I cannot fathom why this weak team is seeking ProTour status. On paper, they are a team of journeymen and those who are past their best.

I hope they prove me wrong, but I cannot see where the results will come from.

Yea same for me, they have a few names that are half decent but i cant see them getting any big wins on the pro tour. Basically the biggest name they have is Robbie and he is well past his prime... They need to build the team over the next 2 or 3 seasons then aim for pro tour.

However i think the one edge that they do have is that being the 1st Australian team. Australia being the ranked 4th best nation in the world and does not have its own team. Most nations even close to the top 10 have their own team that is or has been pro tour.

The trade teams are NOT national teams. Some may act as ersatz national teams (Rabo, Euskaltel) but they are NOT national teams. There is no "French team", "Spanish team" or even "Dutch team" (Rabo are the only ProTour team, sure, but Skil and Vacansoleil aren't exactly scrubs). I can see the excitement at a team from Australia, but don't call it an Australian team. That only makes it a de facto national team, and then you'll be compelled to make promises about Australian stars like Team Sky did. And the Aussies have more good talents spread over a wider variety of disciplines than the Britons have. You won't be able to reconcile the needs and wants of a Porte or Evans or Lloyd with those of a McEwen, Goss or Davis. Nor should you - these guys will be better off in teams that can help them focus on what they want to do - but not having them would then render an "Australian team" a failure for not having the Australian stars.

Yes i know trade teams are not national teams im not stupid. But the trade teams are registered from a certain country. They have roots from that country or an area of the country like Euskaltel-Euskadi is from the basque country or team Sky is based out of England. What i am saying is that Australia has never had a trade team registered to Australia as in thats were its roots are.

White says he is good to go - to go ProTeam - all set and match !

There were rumours that the Contador's positive made a major US-based sponsor suddenly back track on sponsoring the Australian team, leaving a hole in the team's planned budget. However White denied this to Cyclingnews @ [http://cyclingnews.com/Gillette]
