I would put money on P&G having pulled the pin on the sponsorship, I was a little surprised at the mention of Gillette in the first place.

To me cycling doesn't fit with the clean image they try to portray, I mean sure it's clean and green in it's simple form but the cyclists harm that image with the drug taking.

LOL.... its not Gillette as in the razors. Its Gillett as in the sport investment family from the states!

This thread is a little short on facts but carry on...

I read the first 10 pages only and the OP was asked several times where the Gillette rumour started, I think you can blame the confusion on his spelling rather than any malicious intent ..... and the lack of any further announcements from the team itself.

Like I said I was surprised P&G would be involved, and even less surprised that it turns out they never were.

When Chris White is going to announce the sponsor for 2011? I don't know how Chris White works, but it is possible all the ProTour project has NO sponsor and will be a new Linda McCartney bluff? I repeat: I don't know anything about White. But we are in November and he doesn't told anything about it and all that we have it is the rumour about Gillete.

Oh, but they should get the razors Gilette instead. And the company should launch a specific razor aimed at cyclists for shaving their legs.

I really hope not, but I can't help but feel it is heading this way...

i'd think this headline sponsor will only commit if they get a pro tour license. thats probably dependant on having the headline sponsor.

chicken or the egg.

Gillette as in Hicks and Gillette ex of liverpool FC? Holy cow..

George Gillette... Oh dear, Pegasus really are in the ****e.. Expect the sponsorship to be based on huge bank loans, Gillette to show up at one race promising the earth, and threatening to sign anyone from Cancellara to Huschovd, and when they actually get the money having just about enough for a bunch of second hand or old riders. Before folding at the end of 2011 owing $60m to the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Now that they've missed out on ProTour license, it's time to start flooding us with all the announcements!

Ya, since half the team only has points from conti level races like 2.2, it will be interesting to see what they can do in mostly 2.1 and 2.HC races. Also some of the PT riders they contracted can probably have a pretty good year considering they will probably ride programs against easier competition than this year.
