I don't really know if they did under perform, were expectations really that high? I can certainly think of worse under performers i.e. Quick Step.

Well, points wise, Ballan had his worst year in 5 years, Hincapie his worst in 7 years and 2nd worst in over 12 years, Kroon his worst in 7 years. Moos had his worst year ever though he hasn't achieved much since the Phonak days. Even Evans had his worst in 4 years eventhough that is still at a very high level. Burghardt, Santambrogio and Frank all had a worse year than last year.

The only rider to have his best year ever by far was Kristoff and Morabito had his best year by a smaller margin.

So yes I would say they underperformed based on their previous years. Of course one can argue that some of the riders are getting older and that brings with it a natural decline but there is always an expectation that someone can at least get somewhat close to what they have achieved before.

green jersey, sprinters semi-classics wins, guy in the peloton with top5 number of wins in total...

Kroon at FW, that is after E3, GW, RvV, Brabantse pijl, AGR, before LBL and Rund um Frankfurt. I'll guess he peaked for the AGR/Ardennes. But he usually ride the above mentioned races, so to say the beginning of his classic season?

Ballan was crazy, the authorities only want to hear the guy. They never state that they wanted to hear him for doping use of himself, the questions could have been about former teammates or so. BMC took a vital part of his season in the prime years of his career. (if the guy was on form of course, but these years should be his best)

quick step wasn't their as a team, big failure, but Boonen delivered top placings. So just to say under performance is only right if you specifically mention the domestiques...

But I never commented Pegasus itself:
seems a decent ProContinental team. Not the toplevel, but with some good guys who could have been on the ProTour, but the team as a whole: not at this moment. They must ride the TDU and I hope they attack like hell and McEwen wins at least one stage...

anyone know the prospective sponsor.

My sources are telling me Skins, they are a small Ozzie firm that does stuff like Under Armour and moved into cycling kit a season or two back. They do the kit for the AIS team Team Jayco-AIS.

Skins do compression garments.

They currently sponsor the AIS U23 team so if that is to be the case, hopefully AIS aren't left without a sponsor

I was a report of the team on Aussie television and noticed that at 33 seconds into the Chris White interview there is the BMW team car in the background. Out of all the sponsors on the back including Pegasus, V Australia, Merida, Reebok,Youngcare and RBS morgan, Virgin is written in by far the largest font.

Herem is the link http://ten.com.au/video-player.htm?movideo_m=79938&movideo_p=40960

Those BMW's are the team cars for the Australian domestic team from this year Virgin/RBS Morgans.

V Australia likely to be involved in the full team but with another name as the major sponsor. This has been part of the drivers of certain riders, in particular South Africans as this is a key route for V Australia.

The Teams are Pegasus, V Australia, U/23 Team. Unless Jayco-Skins is moving "sideways" and falling under the Pegasus brand, I don't think Skins will be a sponsor. Iirc, Santini are the clothing sponsor for Pegasus anyway?

I guess Birillo would be inclined to ride for them if it was VIP petfoods. If the jersey is like the racing car then the jersey could top footon's epic fail of a jersey.

Could you imagine if another dog-lover, Piti, were to sign for them on that basis?

Valverde as leader for the Aussie team... I fear your world would implode.

I shudder at the thought of that.

I think they will sort out the paperwork and get one, but CW looks more of a prat by the minute. If they cant even get pro-conti paperwork right how in gods name did he think he could run a PT team?

That said, if they dont even get pro conti i will wet myself. However dissapointing that would be for australian sport.

Yeah, it's always funny when a load of people lose their jobs.

Some rumours about the financial plug possibly being pulled.
Could Pegasus become Australia's Linda McCartney?
I guess we shall have to watch this space.
