Ray is in preparation to host "Carols by Candelight" ...groan;)

Don't you be knocking Carols by Candlelight. ;) My grandfather started that.

Mind you, it was better before Channel 9 took it over completely.

ETA: Feel free to knock Ray Martin all you like, though.

hhehehehe. Like the carols and the event but the singers are never any good the hosts are worse.

Anyway. Chirs White was just on the show Sports Tonight putting in his last bid to sponsors. Said it is a long strech but they are in talks with certain parties and have been over the past few days. His bid was very long...He also said that Pegasus have invites to TDU, Amstel Gold Race and Eneco Tour.

There has got to be an Australian company out there that wants to make inroads to Europe. Surely?

Just a matter of researching and hunting them down.
Problem is, what is in it for the bank? Unless they are wanting to expand into europe then I don't see an aussie sponsor that would. The sports gets little coverage over here, it is a growing sport but not a mainstream sport yet and most races are in the middle of the night over here.

one wonders if cyclingnews has a vendetta against pegasus? CN publishes an article claiming the team has collapsed, and velonation has an article with direct quotes from Chris White claiming it has not collapsed at all.

hmmmm
no CN probably jumped to conclusions which is wrong but they are still right.

BS

Until he is registered as pro-conti, no race like that would give him an invite.

The guy is full of ****!

Well he didn't lie about the invite to Oman. The one thing that a few sources have confirmed that the invites they have are real.

Robbie will find somewhere. If the worst comes to the worst the chicken is looking for riders, although he may be more interested in Zajchek

Sky should give Robbie a go I think he would be good for them.

Robbie goes well without a lead out train so Sky could be the natural home for him ;)
I thought Sky had 1 more space but I'm sure Robbie will find a place somewhere without too much trouble.

Personally I'm more concerned about the riders without a big name who aren't 38 and haven't already done everything they had to do in their careers. If McEwen wants to go on, that's fine, but it wouldn't be a tragedy if he had to call it a day.

It would be atragedy. he deserves to go out on his own terms like every rider does and not be screwed over by a team stuff up. the guy is a legend of australian cycling.

Yes, but he could just say "screw you guys, I'm going home", and in a couple of years no one would remember how he went. It wouldn't tarnish his career or anything. His main role at Pegasus, even if he'd have been one of their main winning weapons, would have been to help develop younger Australian talent anyway. If he doesn't get to do that, there's not much in a point going on for another year, well past his prime.

TSF said Sky has no more places.

Sky have 1 place, though im not sure having done all their team building sessions, camp etc that they would bring someone in last minute. I too would like to see Robbie as a mentor to Eddie Boss

Perhaps ominously, White said the situation faced by Pegasus Sports is not unlike the Luxembourg Pro Cycling Project, who is also understood to be at the mercy of a consortium of financial backers and is still yet to announce their title sponsor or sponsors.

Interesting that they claim the two are similar, yet Luxembourg cycling was able to satisfy the Financial Criteria for a pro tour place, assumedly including putting forward the financial indemnity with the UCI, whereas pegasus dont even get a pro-conti place at the first attempt. Maybe uncle pat just has his favourites.

It is not a problem of Pat. It is a problem of Pegasus. The Commision of Licences are independent. And they have empresarial experience. If they give the OK to Schleck-team is because the Luxembourg project presented a bank guarantee for the total-budget. And if they don't accept the Australian project is because Pegasus doesn't present anything. Colombia es pasion, for example, was forzed to present a BANK GUARANTEE of 2.000.000 Euros. And they present it! When you have the money, you are accepted. When you don't have the money, they refusal you.
