Hes as mad a white. They dont give up to they, turned down at a second attempt and a pro conti licence and still they vow they will continue.
Vogels, White, accept when youre beaten ffs

They probably don't want to take everyone out of a job who won't ride with fly v. They will probably call it quits next year giving a chance for the riders to find a new team. But that would be against what CW believes in. Maybe he's turning over a new leaf and not screwing people over?

As soon as this new team gets off the ground, they will stay where they are now and will never make it to pro-conti or pro-tour.

2011: Conti
2012: Pro-Conti
2013: ProTeam?

Turn Pegasus into a Phoenix. :D

It will be interesting to see if it works (at all). If the wipoe the slate clean and bash CW on the head a bit in terms of management (hopefully the Belgian guys will stay and give their advice), then with a spartan squad (let ALL who want to go, go), there's no reason why Pegasus can't start again racing Conti level in Europe. Just, please, learn from your bloody mistakes!

ACF, I have just remembered that promise of yours to streak up Willunga hill if Pegasus aren't there. ;)

That was conditional that the team existed. They didn't even form so Tutur could not turn them down! No streaking for now or until I make my next stupid gamble on something.

I guess they want a job for next year, ACF. Wouldn't surprise me if some jump ship. I mean Bernie Sulzberger got the rough end of the stick and I would not be surprised if he jumps ship next year.

It's too late for most of them to find a team so if they want to race they have no choice but to stay with CW.

For the TDU squad? I thought uni sa were meant to support up and coming riders, not old guys. Good on them though if true, chance for McEwan especially to show hes still got it.

listed on the UCI website Bauer was trying to sign him...

the difference between that interview and chris whites is amazing. no gllitz, says he has asked to go to the tour du mediteranean, tour of cuba etc. Are hoping for some semi classics but there is a lot of competition so they arent counting chickens.

What a complete difference in approach.

That's for the TDU right?

Last place is for someone from the Aus Champs iirc. Kemps got it last year.

Chances White is still f.o.s = 80%
Chances he is telling the truth for once = 20%

Sorry ACF et al, just calling it as experience sees it

Sadly I was right. It's a pity but one look at CW and you could see his white shoes a mile off.

He he he :D [laziali enters from side of stage. He weighs up the pros and cons of going another round with JMBeaushrimp on the relative merits of Steve Bauer. Decides discretion is the better part of valour. Takes hat off to Mr Bauer on this occasion. End scene.]

It's not like Traksel asked tons of money @ Vacansoleil. He just wanted a normal payrise, like you would expect them to give to a Kuurne-Brussel-Kuurne winner.
But I guess mr. Van der Schueren was more interested in another colourless Belgian rider of which there are hundreds.

what do you mean?? traksel won kbk because everyone quit that race due to cold, rest of the year traksel sucked incredibly. this guy doesn't deserve to be a pro anymore. used to be a huge talent though, just the wrong head.

Rider agent Andrew McQuaid believes that the top-level cyclists such as McEwen have better chances of getting a slot with a new team than the younger competitors. “He would definitely be in the better position,” he told VeloNation, “but then it depends on how much money he will get. Budgets are limited at this point and so maybe the offer won’t be like what he would have otherwise got.

“Riders like him and Robbie Hunter are in a better position as their results are well known…the younger guys who don’t yet have massive results will find it more difficult.”

McQuaid, son of UCI president Pat McQuaid, represents four young riders and has been enquiring around ever since the team was initially turned down for its licence application. “It is a disaster. It is the 20th of December and the message I am getting from team managers is that they would love to help, but they are full,” he stated. “I have four riders – one of them is okay, but there are three who I have to try to place somewhere. They are Daryl Impey, Clinton Avery and Jonnie Walker.

Wow, Johnny Walker doesn't have a team for next season? Now that sucks...

Edit: so a bit of research: The 4 riders at Pegasus that Andrew represents are Tanner, Impey, Avery and Lapthorne. That may be the mistake made in the article?

Tuft (as expected) has signed for Spidertech.

Nicely stated about Bauer. No glitz, doesn't over commit in his public statements. He has a pragmatic approach. He's a past champion himself - so he knows where he's taking his team and what to expect for them.

With the addition of Tuft they have 3 riders who have won world championship medals in recent years: Tuft (2008 TT silver), Boivin (2010 U23 Road) and Bell (2009 Ominium - track).

This is an understated team that'll be exciting to watch.

Well, this says a lot about the UCI. Since the mad Irishman has taken control decisions made by the UCI leave a lot to be desired. I see from Cycling News that the riders are angry and frustrated. But that is the mad Irishman's leadership I'm afraid. This is a guy who cannot even acknowledge letters from the grassroots. I wrote to the fool about one very pressing and important issue to do with corruption in the sport and not even a reply that said ****** off. About time he was ousted. So any of you out there who have got the power and/or influence: Get the basket kicked out. Now!

Why do some seem to blame McQuaid for this one. Now I for one can't stand the guy, but really as of yet there is nothing which seems to indicate that the UCI had to give the team a proconti license, the decision not to give one seems a good decision on the UCI's part with the information available at the moment

Agreed.

Reading between the lines it seems clear from some of Chris White's quotes that some of the budget was 'contingent' on the team getting the licence.

The registration process is quite rigid and Ernst and Young who perform the financial audit do not accept 'possible' money as 'real'. I don't think this is surprising coming from accountants. White should have known this, having been through the process a few times now and being an accountant himself.

I think the reality is the team didn't have the financial stability the UCI and E&Y require to approve the licence.

Agreed. If Pegasus had been awarded a license and had subsequently folded in the middle of the season, everyone would have blamed the UCI for buying their BS.
