Now this is what a World Champ should look like. Sagan is a rock-star and whether you like it or not, this it what cycling needs right now after all the scandals. Someone for the GenPop to cheer for.MagnusMagnussen said:![]()

Sagan is one of those unique riders who doesn't need a strong team.

I am not so sure about it, it's quite possible that Tinkoff will go with Baska here. Of course, Sagan would place better than baska in 10 of 10 attempts, but I feel that Sagan is just for training here. And I wouldn't be surprised if he tried long range attack once more, same as in Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, just because it's probably the card, that he will play on Sunday.
However, I don't know where the cobble sectore are placed exactly in the race and if it even be possible to try long range attack just for training.
Exactly because it is a training ride I think that he will rely on his sprint just to do a nice trainning ride and to remind others about it.tomorrow said:pedromiguelmartins said:I think that on Wednesday Peter will try and rely 100% on his sprint. And it will work out against Kittel.

Baska is fast, but his positioning sucks. It could work with Sagan as lead-out: http://www.procyclingstats.com/rider/Erik_Baskapedromiguelmartins said:Who's Baska?

Who's Baska?

I agree, and between Theuns, Stuyven and de Volder, he has the chance of better support than at present. If Guercilena continues to make Trek another proxy Italian team, Sagan's friend and former team mate Oss would be a great signing, but he and Quinziato are obviously a key part of BMC with their TTTing success.

Congrats to him though, hell of a ride.

Erik Baška to lead Tinkoff’s sprint hopes at Scheldeprijs
As the fifth of the six Flanders Classics, the Scheldeprijs is the race where the all-rounders take more of a back seat and let the sprinters take centre stage. With a flat course, there are no significant climbs to trouble the riders, so the emphasis is on outright speed. Leading the team will be Erik Baška. The 22-year-old Slovak rider is a strong sprinter, having won last year’s U23 European Road Race Championships, and will be supported in the race by fellow Slovak, UCI World Champion, Peter Sagan.
Considering Sagan is liked and very respected in Belgium, if the opportunity arises, I don't we why they should pursue Sagan if money allows. It will be a little tricky with Kittel, Sagan and Gav, but I don't think they should expect Benoot to suddenly land. GVA is 30, Vanmarcke is an option I guess, Yves Lampaert?Cannibal72 said:If Boom stays, they'd have a strong classics squad, but my impression is that he'd need to ride a really good Roubaix to persuade him not to return to CX. It really depends on whether Astana want to go all in for GC with Aru, or keep a fairly balanced team like they have now. I don't see Sagan going to BMC; I could see Sagan going to EQS, but given that very little of their young talent (Gaviria, Jungels, Alaphillipe, etc.) is Belgian, I imagine Lef would want a Belgian to replace the legendary Boonen. Trek still strikes me as the leading possibility.

I would not be surprised if he ends up back in Cannondale again. They must be sure now that he is worth each penny. There were rummourshe has said " F..k you T ..f " after the PR 2015 and he agreed that TDF will be his last race for Tinkoff. He supposed to go back to Cannondale. Only after the Tour they had found the way how to communicate again with big boss.

Stybar is basically Belgian. He's much bigger name in Belgium than even Vanmarcke or Benoot.

Im hoping Sagan is thinking TdF as well, Tinkoff's support last year was embarrassing and he will probably receive the same at Sky. I think Trek is perfect where he can be the undisputed leader in ALL races, he deserves that. Then Mochema can have 2 mountain goats and get his top-10 peacefullyMatParker117 said:Hell Bernie Eisel tweeted a photo of Pete and Brailsford having a meeting before he joined Tinkoff. It makes sense if you think about it Sky don't have an elite cobbles leader and Stannard, Rowe, Puccio and Moscon would be fantastic support.
