Hehe, looool. Hopefully, they are not the only ones who provide cycling coverage for english speaking people?

No.
There is David Harmon, Eurosport's cycling commentator, who today was unable to comment due to not being fully aware of "the facts", despite the news being almost 24 hours old.
Apparently, both he and his co commentator had been in lengthy meetings.
Presumably the one that is doing the rounds on Youtube, regarding Lance, starring a certain infamous Austrian corporal.

Matt Keenan.

I like Keenen when I manage to find him on commentating on a stream. It seems like he is clued in on what is going on in the sport today. I don't think Phil or Paul could tell you what bike brands the major teams ride. I sort of doubt that Phil even knows what a Specialized is.

Bike brands ? Ligget has enough problems with the riders.

In fairness to P&P I have learnt a lot from them over the years.
Like I never knew the peloton did 70kmh for the last 10km leading into the sprint.
Or that when someone goes off the front they are thinking about their team leader.

Those two have been phoning it in for a long time. Their performance is zero content noise puncturated with catch phrases. Even without the gag inducing Armstrong salad tossing, their commentary is worthless.

Well as his co commentator is Brain Smith an ex team mate of Armstrong at Motorrolla what do you expect .

We've been lucky to have Matt for the live Giro stages and the Dauphine on SBS. He does it solo, provides insightful commentary, and doesn't mind shutting up occasionally.

I agree

I've always been amazed how well-researched Matt is about *every* cyclist in the peloton

This, coming out of listening to Phil and Paul for years

It would be nice to stop hearing the same stories over and over from these guys, they add hardly anything new to a day's race stage, rehash the same things, and of course, are always overestimating/underestimating speeds.

Yesterday, Paul stated they are likely doing "57-58kph chasing". They were going downhill, and you could easily tell they were doing more like 70kph on Stage 5 TDS near the end.

Then, they will say how they are going 65kph, when they are really going 50kph at times.

One thing that would be nice, is to see actual speeds from racers that SRM will do during the TDF race wiht live feeds. Or at least some kind of real speeds at certain times. How hard is it to show an actual final field sprint speed someone is going?!?!

I guess part of the problem is all of these commentators are sitting in some little booth the company setup with cycling paraphenelia hanging on the walls to give the cycling race feel. They are just at the mercy of the owners of the video feed to get a signal on the monitor and try to comment as the race unfolds somewhat blindly.

But they could do a better job at it, have more original material, and stop repeating the same things over and over and making so many simple mistakes.

Oh god

Phill and Bob Roll just said the USADA charges were from the bottom feeders of the sport trying to capitalize on the attention of the upcoming Tour

How do they look in the mirror?

This might be unpopular - but I would like to see/hear Andreu commentate on NBC Sports. He's pretty funny and has a lot of knowledge. He knows he to sit back and just watch.
Not sure who I would pair him with, though

Not sure if some of the USADA folks are going to take kindly to that remark.

+1 But the guy appears to be on the Wonderboy/UCI "Do Not Hire" list along with waaay more notorious cycling characters. It's a shame many different ways.

Good comment, I like Gogo too and Schlanger calls a good sprint finish
