Now they just said "TJVG must speak spanish, I don't think Contador speaks english" :)

I heard that - Contador has been speaking some English for years. Don't they know that.

And how many times are we going to hear 1) that Nibali was criticized by his management early in the year or that 2) Cancelara is "just about to attack"?

Yesterday Sherwin was rabbiting on about there being a few places on the French/Belgium border where you could cross without showing a passport, this seemed to be a big thing for him. Unless the police or customs are conducting a check you never show your passport crossing between the two countries, most of the immigration posts were closed down years ago.

Maybe he used to smuggle diamonds:confused:

This thread is comedy at it's best. And I thought Kirby lost his mind. Are they that stupid or is it just an act?

Personally, my view on Phil is much more friendly as in 'poor, grandpa, here's your scotch, tell us about how you fought off the kaiser in the trenches again?' my views on paul are much more 'hostile', he has some some sort of twisted agenda going on that I do not want any association with.... ON TOP of the fact that he is a mental hospital escapee.

Today Phil told us that he rode in the 1991 Tour de France. :D

According to the danish commentators P&P are not allowed to mention the war. Is that true? And if so how do they deal with the cemetery shots?

Not true. They've talked about it. Today they showed that cave with the relics left from the soldiers who used it as a fortress, etc.

You have to love Phil's constant missed prediction's under the 1 km banner sprints. He nearly does this every stage but today was particularly awesome. As I watching Kitowski (sic) make an obvious failed flyer at the 1 km banner Phil exclaims numerous times "he's got it, there not going to catch him" when he never had a significant gap and it was plain to see the sprint trains were going to swallow him whole. I don't know if he flies off the handle on these dumb predictions because of dramatic effect or if he's really forgotten what cycling sprint outs are like...but I must say, I've grown to love Phil and Paul just to listen at for the constant snafu's

This is basically how I feel. Liggett is terrible but harmless. Sherwen is condescending and it is hard to listen to him without wanting to punch him in the face repeatedly.

It is not a pleasant thought, but I would rather listen to Bo Roll than Paul Sherwen. Roll is much better than he was in past years. He doesn't over talk nearly as much as he used to (Kirby has never learned that still). Mind you, he is awful but that just shows how bad he once was.

Let's not forget how in bed with Lance Paul has been over the years...

Cycling biggies invest in Ugandan gold mine.

And let's not forget that Sherwen was a public relations director with Motorola as well, hence the:

Armstrong was following in the footsteps of former Motorola team-mate Ron Kiefel, Mike Plant, a director of the Goodwill Games, and Jim Ochowicz, former managing director of Motorola, who had all visited Sherwen in Uganda.

Of course, I'm sure he knew nothing...

On second thoughts why would you have such an knowledge as to where there might be a immigration/customs check on the French/Belgian border....

Another great one was when everybody was wondering where Kittel was at the end for the sprint.

Phil jumps in after the sprint finish, and says, "Kittel had a puncture!!"

Then they show Kittel coming over the line, his tires are fine, like 1 minute + later.

As we know for a fact now, he got spat out the back of the group and couldn't handle the pace with 2km to go, it's called getting dropped, happens to the best. Not a flat Phil....

Also remember guys, they are going 80kph all the time as well.

I could not believe my ears when I heard that. I know sports commentators are not generally very worldly wise, but that was astonishing. I thought he might have been having a laugh. Even before Schengen, there were no checks that I can remember, going back 40 years or more.

When he was a pro he lived in Lille, the centre of which is just 7 miles from the Belgian border. So it's not even about being worldly wise, it's about knowing something that was just down the road. And look at his palmares he was getting decent placings in races in France and Belgium, and these would have been ones where he drove himself. I first drove from France into Belgium around 1983 and the big customs/immigration post on the main route from Calais was abandoned then.

LOL if the border patrol was targeting them.
