But Froome lost 3.25 or so in the three ITT's and the mechanical in the first weekend. In my view, anybody that thinks that Froome would have been able to put that time into Wiggo in those two stages (say to chase down Alberto or Andy) is delusional.
I agree it is a silly question, but most of the forum is silly. I think Contador would have come been very close to Wiggins in the Tour. He would probably have lost 30s to Cance in the 1st ITT...that makes it 90s to Wiggo. Add in another 2 minutes in the second ITT, and I make it that Contador would have had to put 3'30" into the Sky train. Very difficult, but if he was on Giro '11 form, he would have probably done it. But I am not sure.

LaFlorecita said:I believe Alberto would've lost 2'30" in total (a few seconds in prologue, ~ 1 min in first TT ~ 1'30" in the second.)
SilentAssassin said:I feel Contador or Schleck would have cracked Froome, the stabalizing force in Wiggin's armor. This would of exposed Wiggins and caused him to crack and lose minutes to Andy Schleck and Alberto Contador.
Armanius said:I think Wiggins and/or Froome would have still won in 2012, even with the presence of Contador and Andy Schleck. Too many ITT km's and not enough mountains. Contador obviously has a better chance than AS, but he is still no Wiggins when it comes to ITT.

As I see people like to underrate Sky. Hilarious that the same guys accuse them of doping. But Contador would allegedly have beat them. Fabulous. One should optimize its logical line that it would look more plausible.
jilbiker said:We seem to forget Portier and Rogers. It would be Contador vs 4 of them (Wiggins and Froome too). These domestiques were super, raising the speed on mtns to abnormal wattage rates to maintain pace. It would have been tough for AC. I will highly advise AC and Saxo to get some super mtn domestiques for the future. Looks like teams will copy Sky....and we are back to the US Postal strategy.
Kellys Big Sprocket said:Not bothered about Contador nor Schleck. Super Brad would have kicked their butts all they way through the last three weeks. We all know thatHowever if they where in this epic Le Tour I'd feel that it would have been like the Hinault/Lemond partnership in the 85 Tour, Froome playing the role of Greg.
