Froome's most impressive display on a MTF ie Pena Cabarga, where he and Cobo went at it(awesome finale btw) he put 21 secs into TGBM 24 into Dan Martin 27 into Nieve and 29 into Bruseghin.
I cant help wonder how much time an in shape Bertie would have.
Voted Bertie.

While this does somewhat create a duplicate poll on the Vuelta, I'm hoping that by adding a poll, it might add some fun to the head-to-head, Contador vs. Froome debate.

Didn't change anything else. Just added a poll to the thread (and changed the title), that's all.

This poll is no way duplicate! Its a one vs one at the Vuelta, maybe we can do more one vs one rider polls now :), then sum them up for a final one vs one poll ;)

Oh and thanks.

Contador by 12 minutes, even more if he's angry, which I suppose he is.
Probably even more, considering Froome raced the Tour and won't peak again for the Vuelta (not completly sure about this).
We're talking about Alberto, and Froome tomorrow will be dropped by Nibbles I predict!!! :p

as much as I'd like to see Alberto win it along with stages "a al pisterolo" style, I think what an above poster mentioned I agree with in that , Alberto won't have enough "racing" miles in his legs. It takes me back to the days of Eddy Merckx trying to convince Andy Hampsten to "race" more, instead of "train" more. But overall, I think Froome will have the upper hand. As well, team Sky has a stronger climber support than Saxo. I see them counter attacking Contador for the win.

People are always going to not believe Sky Anglo riders especially dodgy ones have it over European champions but they got their first dose of reality in the Tour and they may get their second dose in the Vuelta................

That's kind of what I was thinking.

BTW, a normal, in racing shape Bertie wins by over 5 minutes. An out of racing shape, but bitter Bertie should still win over Froome and Cobo and anyone else by a good 2 minutes.

Uhm.. GB is Europe?

Also, don't forget that the parcours of this years Tour is pretty much made for Wiggins, and there is not much opposition.

There's only one name missing really. It just looks like there's no opposition because Wiggins is so strong.

Umm... I meant traditional mainland Europe, many posters from Belgian, Holland etc find it hard to accept that the Anglo countries could come and dominate their sport..

Also of course the parcours this year are made for Wiggins but in all likelihood he would have won anyway even if there was only the first TT as Nibali doesnt seem capable of outclimbing him by a minute or two and no one else certainly can. And to say there is not much opposition seems to be having a familiar ring to it, it was said at PN, Dauphine and Romandie and has been said for a couple of GTs. Of course Samu wasnt but he was already out of contention and anyways riders are always going to crash out these days and the only riders capable of beating Wiggins on this course seems to be either Contador or Froome, but of course I refer you to my first paragraph if this falls on deaf ears.

Alberto + Andy + Evans + Sanchez + Fränk + Gesink. Evans could've beaten Wiggins in good form, the others could've cracked Wiggins in the mountains.

We can only hope so, if only all the others would come to the same realization as you have that that is the only way it can possibly be ...

Nope only Andy and Alberto could have even though they may have not as half the test of the Tour is arriving in top form and that is only in terms of the mountains not in overall where Andy didnt really stand a chance; not Samu, Evans, Frank and Gesink though, So only really Alberto

Edit: see post below for an explanation but it is pretty obvious.

Evans is there, and as good as he is nowadays, Frank too, Andy never had a chance on this course, Sanchez is just too unlucky to ever win a GT and when has Gesink ever really been impressive?

We never know when riders come back after a serious ban.

See DiLuca, Sella, even Basso took a while. Anyway, i voted for AC, but only b/c Froome will be tired after ter TdF...

And Stannard will win Poland, Eneco, Paris Tour, the WC on whatever course whilst Dowsett will win every TT he races in and Fenn will come second behind Blythe in every Tour sprint..
