It's disgusting to me because Wiggins is disgusting. Hate the guy.

Extremely harsh words about someone you probably don't know.

There are some pretty disturbing things written on this forum sometimes, very disturbing!

Lol, Wiggo is the least diverse rider in the peloton. He does one thing very very well

I repeat: he does one thing very well

Most pro riders dont do anything very very well so Wiggins obviously has more ability than most riders but one thing he is not is 'diverse'

I'm suprised by the result. Either Martin was weaker than normally, or the field was stronger than normally. So many people within 1/2 minutes.
Wiggins winning is not a huge suprise ofcourse but still a little upset.
Dumoulin much closer to Martin than I anticipated but also Kiryenka and Dennis very good. Happy that Dumoulin got his podium place though!

Very impressed by Dumoulin. His progression is excellent. Still just 23 too.

I'm pretty sure he only signed a one year extension with Giant last year. Do we know if he's staying there for 2015?

Maybe I should have highlighted the "least diverse rider in the peloton" bit.

You know, the bit you just left out ;)

Hell - he even won a sprint two years back if I remember right !

Mmmm don't think there is much mileage in this discussion with comments like that, do you?

Most riders will never have the engine of Wiggins so they have to be jack of all trades. All Wiggins can do is put out 450W forever. Its a hell of an ability and is enough to have won him a GT and lots of TTs but thats basically all he does

Well, that was an uxpected result but Tony already lost quite a few TT's unlike last year. (He only lost 2 IIRC, one to Froome on a mountain and one to Cancellara) I'm glad for Wiggo even though I don't like him at all.

I can't fast forward the video on Youtube, do you guys have any alternative way to watch the relevant part?

Not sure how anyone can argue with this. I can't recall a single stage or one day race that he has one (or even come close to winning) that wasn't a time trial. It's also why when the mountains get steep and you have to repeatedly go over threshold and recover, he struggles.

He can win TT's, stage races, the Tour and maybe win PR. And he is a track specialist.

I'm convinced.

I don't know what you specify under diverse....

For 2015 yeah.

And yeah, he progressed pretty well. I remember in the U23 he was always top 10 but he was soundly beaten by the likes of Vorobyev and Quaade and some of the Australians. He surpassed them all pretty quickly.

Well, I don't think Wiggins is a very "diverse" rider, but he did win the British RR a few years ago and there was that weird "sprint" win in Romandie in 2012.

That's true - not sure how I could forget Romandie. Although even that was basically a 'sprint' between time-triallists, not many explosive riders in the top 10.

Vorobyev I only remember from Valkenburg, and there Dumoulin barely made the top-10 because he had just crashed out of the Vuelta. Rohan Dennis he rode against in Geelong, there he finished closely behind him, here in Ponferrada he finished closely ahead.

The Aussie who really is a deception at the pro level is Durbridge. He started out quite well, but now he's not even selected for his country.
