I was going for the witch hunt affirmation.

Sorry, but there are multiple possibilities on Waco. Were you thinking Branch Davidian style self-immolation/scorched earth?

Dave.

Never take me alive type of scenario going down in flames etc.....

But i jest.

I see the Cancer card coming out to play. I wonder if he is considering get a dose to prove he is sick again to get all the sympathy he can, ie cant kick a man when he is down.

But the Docs at Colombia where he was treated, no doubt they will cover for him for a few $$$$ since they never showed up to testify at the SCA trial.

"When I came back from cancer, I walked into a culture of doping. I simply had to take drugs to get my job back.

I was amazed to win in 1999 and even more amazed by how much I achieved to raise awareness of cancer, and raise money.

I was embarrassed by my success. But the cancer sufferers begged me to continue. 'Win again, Lance' they implored. How could I refuse their pleas?

Six years later my feelings of conscience became overbearing. I quit the sport I loved.

But the cancer sufferers haunted me. 'I could be doing so much more for them' I thought. And the profits at Livestrong were down.

So, in 2009, I headed for the kitchen, reached for the oil, and got back on my bike.

If you punish me now, you will be denying millions of cancer sufferers the chance of a new life"

... Everyone stricken by cancer knows that you have to take medication...

Even though I hated to do it for cancer, and hated to do it because of the plague in cycling (from Festina and the evil French, the evil Germans, the evil Italians...), I had no choice. Once I was on medication, I was on an even playing field with the bad dopers. That I survived and won is an inspiration to all cancer sufferers that the medication works.

Dave.

If/when LA is stripped of his 7 titles, all the cancer sufferers whose lives were saved by awareness will immediately turn to dust with only a small grey pile and a yellow rubber bracelet left behind. I bet Travis Tygart didn't think about that when he started this witchhunt, huh?

If I were him I would totally throw Johan under the bus

Why stop there?

In theory, he could come out, renounce all his cycling accomplishments, say he is ready to focus only on the fight against cancer as a cancer survivor only, and to close the book on his career.

Then he could name names, all of the names. Pull a Landis or Hamilton. Turn the tables on everyone. Teammates, doctors, managers. Name everyone who perhaps testified against him. Screw over everyone associated with him who is still involved in cycling, and force USADA to pursue lifetime bans against them. And by everyone, I mean everyone.

He could also suggest that half of the peloton was doping from 1999-2010, and that he won't rest until every one of them is caught and exposed. Turn the thing into a giant House Un-American Activities Committee style farce. Cause the anti-doping agencies to become overloaded and therefore implode spending more time fighting the past than fighting the present and future.

In other words, call their bluff. The perfect revenge.

Of course, this would only be a smart course of action if he actually did dope. I would like to see the evidence presented in open court, with questioning and examination of witnesses and cross examination. That would be must watch TV for me.

If he 'turned the tables' he would be spending the rest of his money paying out on civil suits brought against him for doping and denying it for years and his accusations etc...

I agree to an extent. Yes, just spill the beans on everyone , then maybe a fresh start could be made.

However, to compare this to the witch-hunts of the fifties, where innocent people had their lives and livelihoods ruined by American paranoia is going too far.

Let's crank this up to 11.

Let's get a panel going with ultimate authority. We will bring in all the people who have confessed to cheating, and have them name names.

Then, the people who are named get brought in. If they don't show up, confess, or name names, then they can be blackballed from the sport for life. If they confess and name names, then we can thank them for their assistance, vacate all of their previous accomplishments, and then they can get a fresh start.

I've got a better idea, lets put Dic.k Pound in charge of the panel! The Pound Hearings!

Have you now or have you ever been a performance enhancing drug abuser?

Let's clean this sport up, by giving the remedy some steroids! Excelsior!!

(Seriously, this board censors Mr. Pound's first name? What the heck?)

That would be badass.

Not too far fetched, I suppose. If he gets to the point where he thinks he's going to lose everything (i.e.,his wealth)... then yeah, I could see him burning everyone down.

That would be quite a show.

I'm thinking it might go something like this:

"Fuq all you hatin mudder fockers. You can all kiss my a$$ on Main street. I been on my fuqin Huffy 6, 7, 8, sometimes 10 god dam hours a day and what have you been doing? Nothing, not a god dam thing. 'Cept hatin". Basterds all of you.
I'm coming back. Thats right, COmeback 3, or is it 4. Don't matter. But dope, I mean hope, rides again. And all over your big fat bone idle a$$es. And you know who I'm riding with. Sky. Yeah. We ride 12 hours a day, then warm down another 2 hours. They know how to beat the test, I mean rest of you c^&*ts. Sorry mom, didn't mean you. Me an Bradley, go Postal on you. Thats right biatches. Choooo Choooo on your a$$.

Just as soon as I get out of these god dam handcuffs.

I heard Greg Lemond say that no one is forcing anyone to make a living being a cyclist, therefore, they should put up with the doping controls and the lack of due process if they want to be a cyclist. Otherwise they can go drive a truck for a living.

No one was forcing people in Hollywood in the 1950s to be writers, actors, directors, or crew members, therefore, if they want to work in Hollywood then they should not be a communist. Otherwise they can go drive a truck for a living.

I believe in due process, but if we are to go along with the attitude of the anti-doping advocates about the lack of due process, then the current process is wimpy. Its like David Millar after he was caught. Let's give the process steroids. Then it can be like David Miller before he was caught.

Let's give D.ick Pound's panel the ability to imprison people who refuse to cooperate! And lets give him the power to personally execute the doctors who develop performance enhancing drugs! We could chop their heads off at the Tuileries during the last stage of next year's Tour!

(for those who don't think I'm being silly and over the top on this thread, then I guess you never will)

<irrelevant to the clinic>

What lack of due process are you talking about?

Do you mean being rich and being able to buy yourself out of trouble?

I think we are now getting off topic, but I'll give you an example.

Lance Armstrong signs a contract with the UCI, or WADA, or USADA, or USA Cycling, to the effect of "I will not do this, this, or this, or the penalty is that these agencies have been wronged and will fine and suspend me, and sue in federal court to have my awards taken away."

Then one of the agencies plans to bring a case in federal court because they can prove that Armstrong has breached this contract. First, the judge has to agree to hear the case, which means that discovery takes place. When that hurdle has been jumped, then there would be a court case with evidence and witnesses and questioning and cross examination. If it is in front of a judge, then the judge rules on the case in favor of either Armstrong or one of the agencies suing him. If it is in front of a jury, then the jury decides. Then, if one of the parties doesn't like the verdict, they can appeal it up the chain of the US federal court system. But the gist of the system is this. Lance is guilty of doping when the case is proven in court, based on the evidence. Until that happens, he is innocent.

The USADA system, as far as I am aware, is similar to this: A man is suspected of stealing cable television in his house. The county prosecutor gathers evidence from the cable company and other places, and then declares that the man is guilty. The guilty man has 30 days to respond or not respond to these accusations, and then he is going to go to jail. The prosecutor has presented his evidence in a written brief, and the man has 30 days to read that brief and then issue one of his own in his defense. He isn't able to cross examine any witnesses or view any evidence (he can see evidence in the prosecutor's brief, but any actual, physical evidence...no - hey, is that why Floyd Landis tried to break into that French lab?). Once his brief has been written, then it goes in front of a 3 person panel who decides whether or not his defense can stand up to the prosecutor's accusations. Usually, it does not and the man is denied his livelihood and goes to the pokey. The man is guilty until he can prove he is innocent.

What is wrong with the first example? The evidence comes out. The witnesses get questioned. Everything happens in open court.

Some might say I am a Lance Armstrong honk for liking due process, but the fact of the matter is that Lance might not want everything to come out in open court. Suppose George Hincapie gets on the stand and talks all about how Lance was on EPO. Lance is still getting his day in court, as I feel all who are accused should, but his reputation takes a huge hit, because George has an image of a trustworthy and likeable guy. How does believing in due process make me a person who thinks Lance is innocent? All I am saying is, lets have USADA prove the case in federal court. If the evidence is strong as many people here believe, then it should be pretty easy.

My fellow Americans, I come to you with a...

(Just a moment, my lawyer is whispering something)

...an important announcement. The USADA has ceased operations and will be donating their building to Livestrong.

This is great news for Cancer awareness. By 2013 it is our sincere hope that 80% of all Americans will know its between Leo and Gemini.

Lance

P.S. go Vino!

Preliminary text of L. Armstrong VP acceptance speech

I, Lance Armstrong, being of sound mind and body except for the missing pelota do hereby submit this statement to USADA, the general public and my most hated enemies-The Clinic.

To the members of The Clinic I say YOU MAGGOTS YOU TROLLS YOU HATERS. While I was out winning Tours and curing cancer, you sat around whining and whinging and hating my accomplishments. Why? because you accomplishment-hating DO-NOTHINGS sit on your fat a.rses typing away, typing away, typing away day and night night and day weekends holidays never taking a break always typing away. You know I've read EVERY one of the posts about me anywhere on the web. I have armies of sock puppets propping up my image everywhere. But you B.ASTARDS in the clinic!

I've lost sleep because of you. I can't get it up because of you. I got cancer because of you!

To USADA, thank you for dropping all charges against me. It was the correct thing to do, being an election year and all.

To the general public. I know you have not lost hope for me and the cancer fighting cause. You have supported me and my one c.ojone like an extra small athletic supporter. I will pay you back for your kindness. As I jet around the world hobnobbing with the rich and famous, the 1% as you might refer to them, I will keep you in mind and as I pass over your homes in my jet (which you have in your wisdom paid for by your contributions to Livestrong.com) I will scatter fresh cash out the window. That's right. Fresh Cash.

And to you members of The Detested Clinic, I have recently retrofit the bathroom holding tanks of my jet to disperse their contents upon your heads. And I know where you live.

“Look up in the Sky! It's a bird It's a plane! It's …......(splat)

And at this time I want to take the opportunity to thank Mitt Romney for offering me the position of VP on the Republican Party ticket. Thanks Mittens, you won't regret it.

And you thought you had seen the last of me. I aint going nowhere.

I did it all for cancer.

I fought in France against cancer, I fought on the seas and oceans against cancer, I fought with growing confidence and growing strength in the air against cancer, I defended our island against cancer, whatever the cost may have been. I fought on the beaches against cancer, I fought on the landing grounds against cancer, I fought in the fields and in the streets against cancer, I fought in the hills against cancer. I will never surrender to cancer.

I feel a twitter ride coming on.

From the Desk of Lance Armstrong

Friends,

What I am about to tell you is the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I have remained silent all these years in order to protect those who instructed me to start down this dark road.

It began in 1998 after I finished 4th in the Tour of the Spain. I was set to return to Austin to begin my preparation for next year’s season when I was summonsed to the UCI headquarters in Aigle Switzerland.

Since I rode the Tour of Spain clean, I was a little confused as to why I was needed in the Swiss city. I arrived at 8 am on Tuesday October 13th.

As I arrived, I was told by the receptionist to wait a moment and that someone would be with me shortly.

A man in a grey flannel suit approached me and said that I should follow him. Rather than going into a conference room, he ushered me to a waiting Range Rover idling by some tennis courts.

We drove for approximately 20 minutes and arrived at the town of Montreux, located on the northeast shore of Lake Geneva.

We drove to the Château de Chillon where I was escorted into room over looking the lake. I waited patiently for over an hour when the man in the grey flannel suit appeared once more.

He motioned to me that I should follow him, which I did. I was brought into a small study where three men were sitting on the other side of an oblong table.

Before me sat Henk Verbrugge, Patrick Mcquaid and Jean Marie Le Blanc. I inquired as to why I was asked to come here in such secrecy.

And that’s when the three wise men (that's what they called themselves) dropped the bomb on me. They said the sport was dying and I was the ONLY ONE who could save it. After the Festina affair, the sport was hemorrhaging and close to death. It needed a savior and fast.

I said that I would try my best and god willing I would ascend to the upper reaches of the sport.

They said they had hoped that as well as my story of survival and overcoming great odds is exactly what professional cycling needed. But they needed more than assurances they needed a guarantee.

I told them there are no guarantees in this sport only hard work. But they wanted more. They said I would have to go against my morals and make the supreme sacrifice and begin using PEDs.

I slammed my fist on the desk and read them the riot act. I said I had just come back from the precipice and now they want me to cheat death again!

And that is when a forth man appeared from the shadows – Michele Ferrari. Upon seeing him, I was repulsed in his presence. We bitterly fought for several hours.

They wore me down and insisted in was the only way we could save the sport. They assured me that they would cover up any positives tests (Tour of Switzerland, 2001) and that my pristine imaged and reputation would go untarnished.

They said nothing matters more than the sport itself.

The pain was overwhelming.

But finally I relented.

As I got up from the table, Patrick McQuaid stood up and extended his hand out. Livestrong, Armstrong, Livestrong.

And as they say, the rest is history.

Kisses,
Lance Armstrong
