No genius, we get it...even through your horrible spelling, misplaced and misused punctuation and horrendous syntax.

We get that Celine Dion is a diva, and as such is entitled to, or expected to, have rather glamorous and expensive tastes. A diva-worthy lifestyle which is gladly paid for by her throng of fans, all of whom understand that their hard earned money is going straight into her pockets.

You, on the other hand, willfully accept Armstrong as a diva as well, similarly entitled to the glamorous lifestyle. You're also quite willing to allow that lifestyle to be paid for with money that otherwise would be utilized for charitable works.

That's your prerogative. It's not ours.

Ya i know ,, sorry about the spelling and bad grammer . i am on new medication , i hope the other half of my head recovers soon . That might help me. I know i will never get my eye back, so its a bit hard for me . I am also not a secretary or writer or journalist .
I try my best , but have never picked apart someones bad grammer , cause i know many people speak more than one language maybe even 3 or 4 , and sometimes mistakes are made , sometimes people arent such good spellers . It doesnt matter , as long as they spoke and we could make it out .

So it's ok to siphon funds from your charity as long as you are a star?

Please explain siphoning funds , do you have receipts . proof . remember , he ( Lance ) was a successful athlete ,, and a pro ,, which means he made money . Hung with celebrities in grand hollywood style , so maybe he doesnt need to siphon funds and used his own . ? maybe ? .
Or maybe he combines a flight for the foundation and goes training after the meeting . So thus he uses the flight for business and then trains at the same time and its all written off as a business trip . perfectly legal , most business trips eventually end at the Tee off , nearest golf course after the big meetings . No one is going to fly straight home then fly back again to golf with their business contacts so they can show 2 flights on the books . Isnt golfing a leisure activity and has nothing to do with the business at hand ?
Normal business practice .

So we can all guess this guy is paid by the word. Do you think he's a new addition to the team or is he an old troller?
Who are the best candidates because this guy is a more bewildering combination than an door to door evangelist and the usual phone/IT project manager with too much time to bill?
Names:

Ok so that was funny. Well i guess most business executives are paid by the mile they walk in the plants for all they good they do in the companies vs. what they are paid . Their biggest trick is hiding , avoiding and being quiet in meetings , eating doughnuts and drinking coffee , and of course being on valium constantly .
Yep , speaking of dope , its almost time for my medication again . I just thought i would add some dope talk , cause its a dope thread .

Allright folks, lets get back to the original topic, how people will react to the news. Leave the 'Foundation' talk to the thread that was completely dedicated to it, yes?

Stain,

You should do more than sample one health-care team before making a sweeping comment about how you think Lance best handled himself, the lies, the money...

You are a very unsophisticated person with very strong opinions; ie: very dangerous.

Stain,

I said neither a positive nor a negative. Just a reasonable opinion of you and your non-logic. This is a doping thread about reactions to LA news.

You state that you are new to 'these threads', that's cool. But, the rest of us are not and when you catch-up you'll hopefully realize that it is disingenuous to believe that Lance races clean, that he is true inspiration to anything and he diverts money away from nobel charities and researchers to himself.

If you have enough time to type as much as you do, maybe you should channel some energy into reading the innumerable threads and facts listed in the doping forum to educate yourself(yes, not everything listed is true). That way you won't spout off with parallels of Terry Fox and LA, silly religious advise and weak justifications of Lance's nobel efforts.

Ask the hard questions Stain?

Back on topic

Looking at Livestrong's financials certainly raise some questions. The travel, advertising, and legals costs are absurd no matter how you look at it.....But I doubt that SI will be able to dig up some "Slam Dunk" evidence of malfeasance, I doubt they found a line item titled "Hookers and Blow".

It is certainly possible that they will show a consistent pattern of leveraging the Foundation for personal gain and public protection.

Admittedly don't hold SI in high regard and think they'd only bite on the more salacious elements of LA's emerging problems. The problem with misuse of Non-profit foundation funds is it's boring for their readers and most of the NFL, NBA and MLB guys treat their trusts the same way. Lance went the extra step and made his about "CANCER" and not deprived inner city kids. Would SI find that scandalous or just skip past it? I have no idea.

Wow, Nobo looks rough there. I guess that's what the Hooker'n'Blow diet does when you don't take other drugs to keep your body in shape.

Is that Robin Williams on gene therapy?

Sorry, I guess you did not realize that Bono cancelled his tour and had spinal surgery last year. just sayin'

Bono was named America's worst investor of 2010. I'm sure Lance gave him some tips on how to leverage the awareness campaign for greater profits.

http://www.businessinsider.com/bono-is-losing-his-shirt-trying-to-invest-in-tech-companies-2010-3

Bono is famous not just for being a rock star, a philanthropist and a wearer of weird glasses, but also for being a big investor.

Problem is, he's not very good at it. He's so bad, that today, 24/7 Wall St named him "The Worst Investor In America."

where is the story?

With all this talk about Bono and his glasses, I forgot what the topic of this thread was.
Where is that article we heard about in Mid December? “My sources tell me” that someone appears to be (in my opinion) just trying to say they had the scoop when in all actuality I could have done the same. For example.

My sources tell me that a big breaking story is about to come out in a major USA publication that will shock everyone. Then in 2 months when something inevitably does happen ,,,, I will take the credit for it.

Stop teasing like it is a “Fox News Alert”. Tired of waiting………………..

i have had the pleasure of spending the last couple of hours listening to a person that has worked in Health care for the past thirty years .

The interesting thing is that this person is not a cyclist , but still a sports minded individual with a great deal of knowledge in many sports fields .

WE talked about the begining , the Terry Fox story , the foundation that was built because of his story .
Then the up and down of Steve Fonyo , then the wheels in motion tour with Rick Hanson .
Now along comes a Lance Armstrong , who everyone cheered for in the begining then wants to crucify in the end .
Well after reviewing the admiration he is getting from this health care team , i have totaly taken another look at the situation .
I totaly agree with the health care team that just talked to me . I think the way Lance has handled it so far , is about the only way he could .
I think if you are trying to both raise a foundation for the future , and still race is a very tall order .
i think If i had a jet to get to trot the country and still have time to train so i can still be that athlete that comes with the package as a fundraising athlete ,, i would do it to .
yes it costs fuel ... having a foundation to be solid for years after lance retires costs more than just fuel .
Its a big big effort , If a health care official can see lance in a positive light , a non cycling person at that . Then by formula of government there are 10's of thousands alike out there , that also see lance in a positive light and with positive contribution . If they dont worry about negative poster politics then neither should any cyclist here . But you do what you want , just remember when you say things in print about what he is ,,, that he is this and that ,, you open yourself up to slander by the foundation , same as a newspaper . Forums are not immune to this .
You just all Remember he is doing 2 jobs .. not too many of you could do that and not in a big way like he has .
All of the negative posts , and i was almost starting to believe them too , but i will say what i said a long time ago .

Good Luck Lance , God Bless and Thanks ....

Good to see that you have made up your mind / established your independent opinion with regards to how Lance Armstrong handles his foundation. Without running any statistics etc. the ratio is about 10 to 1 (dislike to like Lance Armstrong) with the occasional closet fan lurking and afraid to voice their opinion. In my opinion on the bolded portion of your post,,,,you never were ever going to believe the 10 posts to your 1.

Usually when I visit the doctor I do not spend time going over things like Lance Armstrong or Terry Fox. I spend more time digesting what is either wrong or broken on Glenn Wilson.

My Hope

Hopefully after all of the dust settles, we can see something not unlike what happened with the Howard Hughes foundation.

Howie was not a particularly philanthropic guy. And to shelter his taxes, he put the majority of his wealth into the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, deliberately having them do almost nothing while he was alive.

Since he died with no will (skipping the part about 10 years of will squabbling), the HHMI eventually received the bulk of his estate. Including the ownership of Hughes Aircraft & Missile Systems (a mega defense contractor). They sold all of that stock to GM and the foundation got a nice $5Billion kick-start.

Now, totally without Hughes, the HHMI does a hell of a lot of good in the area of medical research. They fund $450MM in annual research and have an endowment of $14B to back it. Howard Hughes had not a single altruistic thought that went into the formation of this organization.

Hopefully, "after Lance", the LAF can ironically continue onward and get it's shiite together and actually do some good work. Hopefully Lance won't have a toddler's tantrum and trash the whole thing, and hopefully the board will kick his *** out of the organization and adopt a mission that the public can actually get behind. Right now, as it stands, the LAF relies on it's founder being alive and present in order to deliver on its premise.

Perhaps , you misunderstood . , My article , didnt say that i talked to my personal health care team , but was referring to a team of health care fundraising professionals repsonsible for securing huge amounts of finances for hospitals specialty equiptment etc .
After all when you go in to fix what is broken on Glenn , then i guess its nice to know that all the equiptment is there for you and the rest of us too . right .
YOu can have a hate to love ration of 10 ; 1 over one person or , i like the other ratio , for every 1 that donates there are hundreds that follow and also donate , eventually tens of thousands get well and stand on their own two feet again . Saving the health care system tens of millions annually . Just a small positive thought .

There is one more thing about the 10 to one ratio regarding the hate / love relationship to Lance . I think you are referring to the 10 to one people in the cycling news or as relating to cyclist .
But you know there are what , say 300 million americans ,,, and i guess that is a lot of non cyclists out there ,,, So i think generally , they probably dont read all the cyclist stuff on a daily basis . They might sway the figures in the other direction ,,, like maybe in the direction of LA , seven time tour winner.
In the end the foundation takes on a life of its own and will survive for generations .

You know like the men in black wipe it clean ,, and there are no Nurses oboard the Sea Tiger . Do you see nurses aboard the Sea Tiger General . ?

No Sir I do not see any Nurses Aboard the Sea Tiger , Sir .
Tell the Captain to ready his sub. Igh Igh Sir .

First, sguy, if you are indeed Canadian, can I encourage you to demonstrate mastery of the English language and *punctuation*?

Your posts are hard to read.

Second, you obviously haven't spoken with any of the 300 Americans you write about.

This reminds me of a trip I had to Germany when the headlines spoke of Ullrich's involvement in OP. I asked someone in the restaurant if they could help confirm my translation. They said, 'Yes, he is a doper'.

Other non-cyclists I know have volunteered similar appraisals of Lance when they found out I was a cyclist.

There is arguably nothing humans hate more than being duped. As a resident expert observed:

"There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again."

Even Americans seem to think they can't get fooled again.

DAve ,,, dont snip out just part of what i wrote . Seems to be a habit on these forums. Its unfair to criticize conversation on minor details such as grammar and puntuation . These are non cycling related issues.
Its easy to blast someone for using lots of commas ,,, like there i did it again ,,, 3 commas ,,, must be a nervous twitch . Sorry bud ,,,, i cant spell and you cant read . ( see next line )
I said 300 million and not 300 Americans . I wrote that just to remind everyone just how many people there are and that the opinions are not just a few on these forums . Who reads this , other than cyclists . The average motorists hates us just for being on the road. The average motorist isnt tuning in here . The average motorist hates us because he is forced to move the foot from the gas pedal to the brake pedal for a few momments . WE are trying to change all that , winning and numbers help .
The average motorist ( most of the public ) is going to glance at the original head lines and say , look honey WE won the TDF . The average isnt even going to read past the 3rd paragraph, regarding the article .

Now personally , re-read your famous Tennesse saying > what is up with the
dash at the end of everything . Have you forgotten your famous quote , hence the use of dash , dash ?

Then we have the German restaurant guy, yes he knows , he is the expert , maybe he is an immigrant too , maybe he is a soccer fan and drives fast cars and hates cyclists , maybe he has to wait behind lots of packs of cyclists , cause everyone knows they are all dope heads anyway . Maybe he is telling you what you want to hear so you spend lots of money in his restaurant . Yes that says it right there . You should always listen to the German restaurant guy. Did you leave a big tip ?

So now for the ultimate comment , since you are blasting me for all this , i have only one more non cycling thing to say , to you .
If you are using quoting from Tennessee , i am assumming your residence is there , ok no problem . But ,,, who on earth taught you to distill Whisky ?
lol .
