Prediction Game

Page 18 - Get up to date with the latest news, scores & standings from the Cycling News Community.
Standings have been updated. Not much in the way of changes today, although 180mmcrank (once again) scored top points on the day, further solidifying his lead.

Next up, the final event of the season: Giro di lombardia! Get ready for it fellas!

Good work as always Merckx.

One more big race folks, come one and give it a go!

I forsee Cavendish leading out Armstrong, but both narrowly beaten by Johan Museuuw, leaving Sean Kelly and Henri Pelissier in fourth and fifth. Or at least that is about as likely as my chosen few have of hitting the top five:eek:

Here they are fellas! The last picks for the season!

180mmcrank: ( Cunego, Sanchez S, Gilbert, Gesink, Evans )
campagchris: (kolobnev, gilbert, vino, gesink, evans )
Ingsve: (Cunego, Gilbert, Gesink, Lövkvist, Gerrans
Bluebeard: (Evans // Cunego // Marzoli // Gilbert // Honig )
titan_90: (Cunego, Rodriguez, Sanchez, Evans, Basso )
Cosette: ( Cunego, Gilbert, Lövkvist, Gesink, Kessiakoff )
El Imbatido: (Cunego, Evans, Sanchez, Rodriguez, Gesink)
aarnold517: (Gilbert, Cunego, S. Sanchez, Vinokourov, Fuglsang)
Merckx: ( Evans, Gilbert, Cunego, Basso, Rodriguez)

GL to all!

Final standings have been updated! (Late as usual :p) The overall winner for the season was 180mmcrank who really played well in the last half of the season. He took over the yellow and polkadot jerseys. (He also tied for the points jersey) Congrats to titan_90 and El Imbatido as well for rounding out the podium!

I want to thank everyone who hung around until the end. I know the lack of updates could be frustrating at times, but I think the game still made the season a bit more interesting :p

If anyone has any suggestions for next season, or if anyone would like to keep playing. Please let me know! Also if anyone feels like taking over the prediction game, that would work as well. (It'd be fun to play but not have to do updates :p)

Anyway, thx again everyone. It was fun getting to know you all a bit better (through your emails, etc) Have a nice offseason, and see you next season (hopefully!)

Great idea though i would support inclusion of races like PN TA Romandie, Suisse and also points for stages (dont know if they were here the first time).

yeah we did individual stages, but not every stage of a stage race, it would be far too much work for the person organizing it otherwise (same reason we didn't go over board with the number of races I suspect). GT's had a stage every few days. Maybe PT Stage races could have say 2 stages of points.

I'd agree with your inclusions.

I would be thrilled to play this again, last time my participation was aborted when I was out in the woods for 2 months and didn't get my Giro predictions in time. Please someone say they're rarin' to organize... Paris-Nice doesn't start until the weekend...

I would participate. Sounds good.

I know similar games and I am specialist for breakaways. This is where GTs are won. :D
But of course doing every single stage is much stress, not only for the potential organiser. Would be better, but I will even participate if we only do some selected stages.

The "stageproblem" could be solved with something we called "Joker".
We did every single stage + the Joker but it should work only with Joker too.

You have to name him before a stagerace starts and you can choose one rider for backup, if the "real" Joker should DNF.

Joker counts in every single stage. You have to make a decision what's the best option to choose.
(This is really funny - I can tell you that, especially when the Jokers are "presented to public" and discussed. It's hell to choose the Joker. And there was much whining and celebrations about the joker :D )

About the points - you have to calculate not to screw up the points-balance with the other points given for other classements. Should be close to 50/50 for stages/gc.

Jokerpoints:
We did, for example, top15 backwards.

1st = 15pts
*
*
15th = 1 pt

Well, its a matter of calculation if this could be an option. But for sure it is fun.

EDIT: The Joker can't be named in any other prediction of the stagerace.
