He is one of the favourites of Le Tour, he is one of the best climbers.

As others he need to past first weak alive but in the climbs he is one of the strongest, and in climbs as Mende, the stronger.

He's obviously not a top contender on the same level as the big 4. It is however arguable that he is the best of the rest and with a route that is very favourable to him it helps his chances greatly. No GC riders outside the top 4 have proven they can beat Purito consistently (Valverde has in the Vuelta, but the Tour isn't the Vuelta). His performance this Dauphine have shown that he should be in very good form in the Tour.

I really think he will finish on the podium. And will win the stage to Huy. Valverde wants to be really well in the Vuelta, so his form atm is not as good as should be.

I don't believe the big four will finish 1,2,3 and 4. And i still think on this course, Purito has got a chance to beat 1 or 2 of the big four. I'ts not really big, but you have to believe.

Right now, he's better then in 2013, so that's a good sign. In 2013 he lost too much time in the first Pyreneen stages because of a hard crash in stage 6 (i believe) and lesser form. That mistake he will not make a second time.

Purito droped twice Froome in 2013, he is one of the few than could drop him. He was weaker in the Pyrinees becouse he had a crash 2 days earlier, but at the end of the Tour quintana and Purito climbed better than Froome, and last day Purito was the stronger, he was pulling the most, although Quintana took advantage of that. He is as favourite as is Nibali.
The previous year he droped Contador usually in the Vuelta.
He just need, as everybody, to be alive before stage 10.
He could lose even1 minute with Froome in the first ITT, but that is not too much.

And for the man that says yesteday that today is a good day for Purito, yes, I was wrong,. today is a good day for him, I dindt see the profile.
Anyway he is not today at the level of Froome or TVG.

Well it looks like you were right,J.Rod looks better placed for a TDF podium vs Valverde,i still hope Valverde will improve,if not he'll be Quintana's slave all TDF long.

I'm positively surprised as well, he could actually do decently in the Tour (~5th in GC), but I still think he got his last GT podium two years ago 😉

I'm positively surprised as well, he could actually do decently in the Tour (~5th in GC), but I still think he got his last GT podium two years ago 😉

Well of course the chance is likely he will finish outside of it. But apart from the big four, i think he's still the best. He will be better then Pinot. But i have the confidence that, with a little bit of luck, he can finish on the podium. If he manages to survive the first week.

And he can win the stages to Huy and Mende. Will not be easy, but this Dauphiné (also the lesser form by Bala) give me the indication it's possible.

If Purito Crashes out then bet off or if a had a bad mechanical that cost him the podium I would pay up or bet off depending on amount of stages left It has to be fair.

IMO Purito is killing his chances for a good Vuelta doing the Tour, i mean, the Vuelta suits him perfectly and 2 GT a season, at his age, is too much.

Purito will never podium TdF again so learn to live with that. He is lucky to have Katusha still interested in renewing his contract so he can pedal around for another year and collect nice pay.

Other that that, one day races and stages with short(er) steep finishes are all he got in his legs these days ... obviously only with a little luck involved as there are some better riders around with similar skills.

IMO he should go for the KOM jersey at the TdF.

So you are a troll. Glad to know. The guy is 5th in the WT-standings. Won Pais Vasco, and got 3rd in LBL. Why do i even discuss with guys like you? 😱

He can podium. Bigger chance he won't, but he can. That doesn't chance because you say he can't.

I cant do any bet with Purito or any other rider till the end of stage 9. That day we can talk about bets.

When Froome, (see my post in his thread) talk about his rivals, he say: Contador, Quintana, Purito and Nibali. it is normal becouse Purito was on the podium the Tour he won and droped him twice.

He has 2-3 years of top level cycling still.

For him cobbles stage will be important, better to lose 2 minutes than crash, but if he lose 2 minutes he has difficult to win le Tour. Anyway the reference maybe is Froome, not Nibali.
Without rain shouldnt be a so selective stage as last year.

Of course if Purito is at the end of stage 9 , 5 minmutes behind Froome, or Contador, or Quintana or Nibali, or Pinot, or Uran,... he is not going to win the Tour, nor even podium for sure.
