As to this point: does anyone here know what level of evidence/suspicion is required in France to board and search a vehicle, impound a vehicle, hold drivers and passengers for questioning, etc.???

Another team. Wow.

Lotto
BMC
QS
Saxo

At this rate, the only clean team left in the Tour will be RadioShack.

Needles!

Sky's Bradley Wiggins has questioned the enforcement of the UCI's new no-needles policy, saying the team's medical staff are ‘adamant' other squads are continuing to inject recovery aids like vitamins and minerals.

And the UCI's Medical Officer, Dr Mario Zorzoli has admitted that the federation cannot perform spot checks and can only pursue an investigation if there is evidence from other anti-doping activities like police raids that a rider or team is flouting the rule.

No, Alessandro, but the police know EXACTLY what they are looking for...;)

Yeah... They've never come up with anything before...

Not everyone can care as little as the Dutch...

Fear of what?

Fear of being investigated and possibly arrested by the police. Think about what David Millar has said about his experiences with the French police. Having to account for doping to the UCI or so is one thing, having to deal with the actual police and being treated like a criminal is a whole other thing. And I think it can't hurt to remind people of how dopers are handled in France.

Yes, that's true. But the sport has come a long way since the raid in San Remo so I suspect that all the PEDs have already been imported and searching a team bus is just a minor inconvenience.

We're getting the news one line at a time:

Volgens het Franse ministerie van Volksgezondheid gaat het om een vooronderzoek van het parket van Parijs.

According to the French ministry of Health it's a preliminary investigation of the prosecutor's office of Paris.

I don't know the technical legal terms, so I just made something up.

The French Department of Justice has been forming a large scale search for performance inducing drugs, on the roads towards the Vendée the entire week. Tomorrow the 98th edition of the TDF will start, in le Passage du Gois, in the Vendée. Earlier this week, at a highway tollbooth 100 km's north of Nantes, all cars of participating cycling teams were pulled over and searched by French authorities.

Well if any of you have ever seen a car or truck that was stopped at a USA border crossing to be inspected, they're going to rip that bus apart! I will doubt that bus will ever work as it did before, they never put them back together like they originally were, some stuff just won't go back the way it was, extra bolts and nuts are just left in a box.

Agh man, they aren't digging deep for loose change either, any sign of a dope dog sniffing around ;)

Any idea how many were escorted to the Gendarmerie? Quickstep's the only I've heard of getting this 'special treatment'.

When I read that they had taken it back to the station, my first image was Abby from NCIS tearing it down to parts looking for secret compartments.
