+1. Agreed.Cimacoppi49 said:I have to think they were operating on a tip of some kind. Makes little sense to just impound one bus with no other information.

Another team. Wow.
Lanark said:Quick-Step spokesperson Allesandro Tegner confirms the news. 'The police have searched our bus and seized it. Our driver, team leader and Wilfried Peeters are at the police station. I don't know what the police is looking for', says Tegner.
Sky's Bradley Wiggins has questioned the enforcement of the UCI's new no-needles policy, saying the team's medical staff are ‘adamant' other squads are continuing to inject recovery aids like vitamins and minerals.
And the UCI's Medical Officer, Dr Mario Zorzoli has admitted that the federation cannot perform spot checks and can only pursue an investigation if there is evidence from other anti-doping activities like police raids that a rider or team is flouting the rule.
Lanark said:Quick-Step-woordvoerder Alessandro Tegner bevestigd het nieuws. "De politie heeft onze bus doorzocht en meegenomen. Ook onze chauffeur en ploegleider Wilfried Peeters zijn op het politiebureau. Ik weet niet wat de politie zoekt", zegt Tegner.

In that case they could have picked one that they are sure not to find anything. But why a belgian team bus?spalco said:Meh, even if it's random, can't hurt to strike a little bit of fear into the teams.

Why would they need to be all sneaky if you didn't search their team buses and hotel rooms every now and then?roundabout said:Fear of what?
I'd rather have them look out for people in business suits with briefcases entering hotels where riders are staying.
spalco said:Fear of being investigated and possibly arrested by the police. Think about what David Millar has said about his experiences with the French police. Having to account for doping to the UCI or so is one thing, having to deal with the actual police and being treated like a criminal is a whole other thing. And I think it can't hurt to remind people of how dopers are handled in France.

The French Department of Justice has been forming a large scale search for performance inducing drugs, on the roads towards the Vendée the entire week. Tomorrow the 98th edition of the TDF will start, in le Passage du Gois, in the Vendée. Earlier this week, at a highway tollbooth 100 km's north of Nantes, all cars of participating cycling teams were pulled over and searched by French authorities.
