There is also good news though, the Vuelta a Colombia is willing to invite Airgas Safeway if Horner wants to ride the event!

Horner vs Sevilla vs Rujano? that would be awesome!

EDIT: It seems the Vuelta a Colombia is partly at the same time as the Tour of Utah, so if Airgas gets an invite to Utah it is not likely he will do Colombia.

Utah could be a great race, Horner vs Dani Diaz vs Tommy D.

I just don't get how he is not riding in a top team. Publicity wise a rider of his age a GT winner "he destroyed Nibs"
These are the sort of things in sport that should not be allowed to happen. I really hope he gets a big ride.

Big teams don't want him because of his age. It's harder to recover from injury when your that old (and injury and recovery is something you definitely have to think about in cycling.) IMO to get a contract from a big team he would have had to ride well in 2014. He did alright, but there are so many more young promising riders who are less of a risk. This year, if he can't dominate the American races that suit him, than I think there is a 0% chance of him getting a bigger contract next year.

Good points Jspear "as usual"
'Im sure there are some good youngsters but H is a proven GT winner and its not really going to be that much trouble to fit him in a team. If he his in a team with talented young riders then that can only be of benefit. We still have only Bertie Froome Quintana the usual candidates serious contenders no one has really broke through to challenge them seriously.
Maybe he his asking just to much money. If you look at last years Big GT's, Froome ,Bertie both injured and already both have issues. I understand your points but I still don't think it makes sense from what we know of Horner not to sign him. Maybe there is some element we are not being told.

According to Vaughters, 'same reason nobody would touch Cobo. Not worth the reputation risk'

Lampre should have kept him especially with them going out of MPCC. They don't have many winners

The gave him a chance for one year when NOBODY wanted him and that was immediately after he won the Vuelta. In return he didn't win much for them. So for the money he was asking better get some 'young guy" who may win someday at cheap price than overpay for a guy who has a long history of getting injured and may be past his best performances

Well they still have 3 teams to pick, so...

Tour of Utah announces 13 teams for 2015 race
Chris Horner's Airgas-Safeway squad not on the list
The Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah today announced 13 of the 16 teams that will be competing in the UCI 2.HC event that runs August 3-9. The additional teams will be added later this spring.

They should invite Airgas and Funvic, that could be a fun race Horner vs Tommy D. vs Dani Diaz.

So who is on his old boys all star team?

Horner
Evans
Sanchez
Rebellin
Petacchi
Basso
Peraud
Hushovd
Pellizotti
Leukemans
Danielson
Zubeldia
Tiralongo
Mancebo
Sevilla
Voigt
Szmyd
Paolini
Millar
Petrov
...

Does anyone really think that would be among the 3 best teams in the world? Or did he think about including Armstrong as well

Who do you think would win a GT for +37 guys?

Seems like Utah was waiting for Horner's showing at Redlands and when they saw that he was barely able to stay with the leading group, they decided to go with one of the other teams.

I think he fckd it up by bragging about how he owns Redland's etc. As I suggested earlier, he should have gone to San Dimas to get his racing going and smash the field at Redlands and I can guarantee you they would invite him.

Now in stead, he is whining how he still got something on his lungs from last year blah blah blah.

Perhaps he can change a team mid season?

What about him riding the Giro for CCC Sprandi Polkowice (one of the few teams where he could actually get a spot)? That would be amusing!

Do they really have extra money to squander?

I hate the f55%ing double standards in cycling " UCI etc" Horner never really given a chance to race again in health. We seemed to have missed that window by all accounts.
Its like we never got to see Landis ride again. Fu%% yeah he doped but so did others and they got back.
Ulrich as well and Chicken never got back. These are the sort of riders that make cycling exciting and yet we end up with riders Like Millar back in the peloton puking out their self righteous kak like a shady car salesmen.
The Fu%%ing UCI can stick their rules up their ar$$.
I would have given Horner a chance to defend his GT win no matter. I want to see excitement.
I want Ricco back as well.
Fu55ING do gooders can kiss my ar%%

While the reasons with Horner are partially his own health fault, I have to 100% agree with those like Ulrich, Rasmussen and Landis.

Hell yeah, I want Lance to fry in hell and banned for life just because what he did to Landis when he was trying to come back from the ban. And same hell frying to all those corrupted UCI FU%KERS that are running these double standards and those unofficial black lists.

I truly hope that one day, the best teams will create their own "league" and leave UCI and ASO behind.

Just wanted to see what was going on in the Respect to papy page and I wasn't expecting three of the most entertaining successive posts I've seen on these forums.
