The race development in the Ronde was totally different from AGR... Didn't Canc attack at 40k before the finish?
Here the race only started at about 10-20K.

What does that have to do with this useless thread other than another way to divert attention away from your personal disappointment with your own team's performance? For me your true point is clear as day. Cadel couldn't, ride GVA wasn't anywhere to be seen so you may as well rag on the Dutchies team just to get something started as a way to mask your pain.
auscyclefan94 said:I never said you did say that. I don't see how there tatics were different to rabobanks today? I am very happy about the result today. not remotely dissapointed. Some posters are very sensitive when their favourite riders are being bagged.

theyoungest said:Gesink looked as bad as last year, basically. But he still rode himself into the top-10. Unlike, for instance, Sammy Sanchez, who didn't even make the front group. So ACF, if this will be the order at the Tour, fine with me
Luckily they have Mollema for Liege. He has found top form later than he wanted, but at the right time for the classics.

Ring ring......Hello kettle, pot is calling
Last year Gesink sacrificed his chances in the final for Freire. Half the Dutch cycling world later flamed Rabo for that, so he wouldn't dare to do so anymorehrotha said:Regardless of whether they could have done more today (Gesink didn't look good, Martens disappointed and this isn't a finale for Freire), I think there are obvious hierarchy issues within Rabobank. Still no answer, outside of 'have a go'. Seriously, what tactic should they have used?Lanark said:What should they have done?
I'm just repeating what you said, I don't think this race has anything to do with the Tour, but if it does: Gesink beat Andy Schleck and Samu todayauscyclefan94 said:A one day classic is different to a stage race. Suerly you would understand that. I felt, like quite a few others did, that rabobank should of had a go. Most riders get some sort of cramps after 250km of racing. Why did rabo ride so hard if Gesink didn't have it again?
theyoungest said:Gesink basically said that he wanted to launch his planned attack on the Keutenberg, and he just cramped up immediately.
TeamSkyFans said:Wish id never listened to ACF and put Van Avermaet in my team. At least Gesink got in the top ten and scored me a few points.
auscyclefan94 said:Bruce Mcavaney (who is an excellent commentator of AFL) sometimes uses the term delicious in a quite humourous tone. A lot of people made fun of him and still do. It is an ongoing joke amongst people who listen to Bruce.
I musn't be the only person then. In some way, the quoted posters agree with me.Timmy-loves-Rabo said:acf can't distinguish the difference between two races with little in common.
The only loser is the creator of this thread. The thread itself shows how little he knows about cycling tactics.
katusha, vasc. were basically the same, and every other rider in the group.
Everyone was outclassed. Rabobank failed, so did others.
But yeah big time losers.
NickRooz said:Yeah it's logical that he trains to be good at Oman, a race that doesn't really matter anyway. When it really matters, when the real races are ridden with the strongest competitors, Rabo simply doesn't have what it takes to win a race, let it be a major classic or stage race. Maybe they should hire Bjarne Riis, who gets most out of his riders?
In other words:they should think about their strategy. They failed in trying to isolate Gilbert, after that they failed in making a mark in the final stage of the race.
Stingray34 said:The boy's a bit special, that's for sure! Can we say Cancellara is the Gilbert of Flanders now?
I have nothing against Rabobank at all, but they were made to look stupid in the final. Amateur, even.
Mellow Velo said:I'm beginning to think Gesink has left his legs on his trialing bike.
His edge seems to be gone at present.
Really expected more from him, today.
That was the Rabo of old. No idea what to do when you have half the team left in a small group.
Has Greg van Slowatthat finished yet?
Publicus said:So Rabobank came up empty handed??? That's why you ride to win.
beer_thirty said:wow. just wow! What a ride by Phil... Rabo couldn't even put anyone on the podium with that group they had... would love to be a fly on the wall at dinner tonight.
sublimit said:Rabo make Garmin look good. Best rider won and thats the main thing though. Congratulations to Gilbert
Sasquatch said:Rabobank - epic fail.
afpm90 said:I think Rabo should have attacked with one of their riders in the final part of the race. Instead of just standing there.
dlwssonic said:but rabo should have at least tried to attack since they had 3 riders on the front instead of hiding there. should have done something like androni did in giro dell appolino
