I think this works with Worlds where teams are still big and you have circuits and a very controllable race.

I doubt the useless breakaway gets any serious time.

Question is, with 5 guys a team, who will do the work from the start? Tratnik, Vansevenant, maybe Fraile or Juul-Jensen? Perhaps one of the INEOS guys because they're so used to pulling? But I doubt the Italians will make Moscon of Caruso pull, nor do I see the French using Cavagna or Cosnefroy.

I think it might be good for the bigger nations to get someone in the early breakaway.

Remember 2016 WC? Belgian had 6 riders in a 19 man group and the big brain plan was for Boonen to sprint against Sagan and Cavendish.

A tactical masterpiece if ever there was one.

Still, most major countries have 2 big guns, that leaves max 3 people domestique and I see nobody with the Tim Declerq/Tonny Martin physique to keep everything together. I wouldn't be suprised so see some bigger names in the early break away.

I wouldn't underestimate him. He's flying a bit under the radar, but a dangerous contender.

The same reason Maximilian Levy did the Rio road race and Mickaël Bourgain the London race. So they could start at Track Cycling.

The guy's done the Copenhagen Six Days numerous times and has podiumed the last three editions of it and also won the three days race in Ballerup last year. But if you don't have much interest in track cycling you probably haven't heard of him, unless you remember his victory in Himmerland Rundt 8 years ago.

He's a track rider, who's riding the madison with Jan-Willem van Schip. Yoeri is lining up for the road race, in order to get an another rider for the track.

He's said in the Wielerflits article, that his main objective will be to fetch bottles for the others. So I doubt that he will go on the attack.

With the riders skill sets and the route, this may be one of the most open OGRR/WC races I can ever remember. I honestly wouldn't wouldn't surprised if anyone of about 25 riders won (though obviously it will be Pog).
