Plantur-Pura races on different bikes, depending on which CX team they ride for. I've seen Cant & Worst (and others) riding Stevens bikes, whereas Alvarado is on the Canyon.

Have I understood this correctly? Van Empel will start wearing Jumbo clothes (or rather, clothes with the Jumbo logo on, as you say; she won't actually be wearing ordinary Jumbo clothes) instantly from January 1st? Or are riders allowed to be employed by completely different organisations between Cross and Road, meaning that she could continue riding Cross as a Pauwels Sauzen rider?

As already said, it depends on the agreements of the teams. Pidcock moved from Trinity to Ineos after the CX season ended. Moving mid season can't be ideal, and Fem will be changing bikes, but also groupsets, and other equipment. Interestingly, while she rides a Ridley, in the MTB races she was on an American Eagle XC bike.

But isn't that exactly what they do? They can choose to not ride in the U23 rank (or Championships, as both Van Empel and Vas did yesterday), even though they're young enough to be U23. But from what I understand; once the decision to move up has been made, there's no turning back.
I realise that, but I was justt referring to it being the uci and/or organisers (flanders classics in this case) who decide on the order of the numbers and colours and therefore when Vas, Van Empel or whoever go and to sign on for the race they'll just be given the number and will have to wear it in whatever the colour.

Her contract ends on December 31st, meaning that if she hadn't (re)-signed with the Sauces or Jumbo then she'd be a free rider. I saw something on Wieleflits saying the contract had a clause to extend it or something but Mettepeningen couldn't/didn't want to restrict Van Empel further than the actual length of the contract as Most of the cx contracts now run from January to December which as Axel says can be awkward when swapping material part way through the season. It was when Cervelo didn't have cx bikes, but Vos (and Van Aert) ran sprayed up bikes that they were using for their previous team/bike sponsor so maybe Van Empel will do the same to keep continuity as similar as possible. Though that maybe a bit harder with Sram apparently coming on board and Jumbo and the Sauces both run Shimano.

I meant they can choose whether or not to ride as U23 riders. Not that they can choose whatever colour they'd like.

Bisiaux has been the pinnacle of the season thus far. He's not dominating by putting huge times into everyone, but always at the front and the new European champ. Quite interesting that both him and Nielsen were putting up quicker lap times than Verstrynge yesterday.

Weis. Yes. He's yet another one of those Danes going by their middle name.

  • Roodhooft ladies all race road under Plantur-Pura but are split between Alpecin-Deceuninck, Crelan-Fristads and 777 on the road
  • Niels Vandeputte, Toon Vandebosch, Joran Wyseure and Emiel Verstrynge all race for Alpecin Development Team but on the cross the first two are with Alpecin - Deceuninck and the others race for Crelan - Fristads.
  • Thibau Nys will join Trek-Segafredo next season but my understanding is that he will continue to wear Baloise-Trek kit whenever he races cross.

Aren't those all - with the exception of Wyseure and Verstrynge? - cases of "The same organisation"? Brand also rides for Trek-Segafredo on road, but Baloise-Trek in CX.
But it does make sense that it's a matter of agreement. I guess if PFP decides to ride road again, she's also need to find a non-Ineos team to ride for.

Nice race for the U23 women; Puck showing what a talent she is, and now holds European U23 titles in CX & XCO. Line in 2nd wasn't a surprise to me, as she is the current U23 World XCO Champion - something which the commentators didn't mention, or realise. Shirin got a poor start and was playing catch up.....
Promising rides from former team mates Marie & Zoe; it seems the former has made progress since last season. Luxembourg may get a new national champion.

I was briefly confused when the Ian Field was talking about Pieterse having a faster rear tyre that the front one. "What happens if it is so much faster that it catches up and overtakes?"

Something akind to what happened to Backstedt down the hill towards the cobbles on the first lap?

You do what Zoe Backstedt did on the first lap! :D

Great minds think alike!
