Yes it may have been her, but I thought she said steroids. Wasn't it Voet who wrote that creatine only worked if you took it with an illegal drug, I think steroids?

steroids in women's tennis? not an implausible guess.

I don't know who said that, but it isn't true. Creatine does work on it's own.

The following is an article from the UK about the Nadal-Murray match from Wimbledon 2010. There is hint after hint after hint that both Nadal and Murray are juicing, but they never actually make the explicit accusation.

Very frustrating that "everyone on the inside knows what is going on, but won't say it" (Omerta).

http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2010/jul/02/andy-murray-rafael-nadal

They have a blog this tournament too, but try asking any questions about doping and see what happens to your post and account. The same goes for the BBC.

That said, the Guardian has one of the more byzantine moderation policies and its sports coverage is woeful.

Apparently Nadal has an injured foot. I wouldn't know from watching him play this match. Likely looking for some "treatment" time.

Walked out of the room afterwards. BBC expert analysis from Boris Becker on Nadal, with Tim adding his piece. It was even starting to make Phil Ligget look like he could do a critical analysis of Lance and possible involvement in PEDs. How many times did supreme gamesmeister Boris rob opponents of deserved victories ? I remember driving listening to a final between Lendl and Becker. After a close start Lendl was starting to put daylight between himself and Becker. My wife and I agreed it was about time for Boris to pull a sicky. Within 30 seconds he was poleaxed, prostrate on the ground. (If only we could have placed a bet !) No sign of this apparent "near-death" experience as he danced around sometime later, having beaten Lendl. You just have to say weak pathetic umpires. Boris turned me off tennis big style. BBC you just have to love them - MacEnroe, Boris and Tim.

Nadal pulls this shot all the time.

- He takes an injury break with some "problem" in his legs.
- He gets up from a massage, or leg taping, and runs around that like he was never injured in the first place.

It is clearly a tactic to upset his opponent's rythm. I have NEVER seen anyone cheat as much as this guy does.

This guy is so blatant, it isn't funny.

After he claims "damage to the bone", he says he will get an MRI. Trouble is, an MRI is used to diagnose soft tissue damage, not bone.

Supposedly, today, he "went to a hospital, and had an MRI". Problem is, a doctor would use an XRay to diagnose a "bone problem". I doubt any doctor would give him an MRI for the problem he described.

This guy is such a bald faced liar, and none of the tennis journalists will question him on his OBVIOUS inconsistencies. Only Serena Williams lies more than this guy does.

You guys think cycling is corrupt, sheesh !

Oh boy don't get me started on the Williams sisters. They are both much worse than Nadal. I took a lot of pleasure in seeing the pair of them go out yesterday despite the normal tricks and tribulations.

I'm no Nadal fan, but you most certainly can use an MRI to detect bone damage.
In fact it would be used if an x-ray wasn't conclusive.

You seem to have confused Nadal with a doctor. He doesn't know what these machines actually do, he just sticks his leg in them.

Nadal claimed he needed to have an MRI IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE MATCH (BEFORE he had a chance to see a doctor). Then he claims he went to the hospital, and they performed an MRI ! NO XRAY was done (according to Nadal).

He is full of shot !

Winding myself up here....Today's paper - banner across the front page "Judith Woods - How Boris became our favourite German - page 23"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/te...ecker-Im-not-your-childrens-father.-Am-I.html

Judith - I have news for you. Not everyone is a cretinous adult who has been kept in a privileged lifestyle that allowed them to maintain the fantasy outlook of a 12 year old, on life. Boris is very definitely not my favourite German - so please don't presume to think I would allow an idiot like you - Judith - to think for me. I know lots of Germans I like and respect a great deal and Boris has no observable commonality with them other than the nation of his birth.

Boris Becker,
Former Wimbledon champion & BBC Sport commentator

"Nadal is a worthy Wimbledon champion and a worthy world number one. In all my years in tennis I have rarely seen player of his calibre. I really admire him"

Yes Boris - it takes one to know one. I am sure you think he is just the right sort.

Immediately after the match :

"I'm worried, for sure. I'm going to do the MRI. We'll see what's going on. Tomorrow, we will see," Nadal said. "I cannot predict the future."

http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110627/ap_on_sp_te_ne/ten_wimbledon_men

The next day :

"Rafael Nadal says that an MRI on his injured left foot showed no significant damage and that he will be able to play his Wimbledon quarterfinal against Mardy Fish on Wednesday."

I can't believe you actually claim to know anything about tennis, with comments like this. Did it ever occur to you that his long list of injuries could be related to his aggressive style? it's very tough on the body ya know.. Look at Federer he's never injuried, and he's a much more elegant player.

If the injuries are legitimate, why does it never affect his movement ?

He has done this MANY times (claimed injury in-match), yet his movement after the "injury" is NEVER affected.

Yes, I have played tennis for more than 10 years. Nadal's style is stressfull, yet he has won more than anyone else since the start of 2008. You can't be the best in the world when you have legitimate injuries every week. At least some of his injuries are bogus or exaggerated.

If a cyclist claims injury dozens of times, yet NEVER slows down after his injuries, wouldn't you be sceptical ?

Here is at least 1 journalist who agrees with me.

+1

also, Andynonomous' claims that Rafa never is affected by his injuries is B.S. perhaps "seems" is a better word because if you watch him closely, you can see him moving somewhat gingerly after an injury (sorry if it wasn't obvious enough for you).

in the French Open with the bloody sock (blisters, i presume) he was very careful in how he was placing his foot... you have to watch closely to catch this as his play is so aggressive.

and how come no one mentioned that Del Porto called an injury time-out of his own?

great article andy, thanks.
I'm a 100% with you on this one.
Rafa's way of playing is annoying and has been annoying ever since he came on the scene. His fist-raising is now the norm. but he introduced it. and before that, it was considered quite inpolite to do such blatant fist-raising in your opponent's face.
And then there are all the other tricks he pulls. contact with his coaches, the time he takes between the points, his bull**** time-outs, the way he remains seated before the start of the match, etc. etc.
Nadal's style has visibly disgusted Federer and others (e.g. Roddick) ever since Rafa came on the scene. But Federer soon saw that his protesting yielded very little.
After all, if you criticize the winner, you're supposedly a bad loser.
