Froome not being able or choosing not to go all out yesterday or today was also kinda depressing. I wanted to see the Sky-train like in the exciting 2013-days, smashing it and leaving everybody in the dust, Ax-3, Ventoux and PSM-alike. This year's train was completely different, much more conservative. All the MTFs sucked, the playground of the best riders. Sad....

I give 4 stars because if we leave GC action out which is actually the main thing then everything else was quite good. We saw good fights in breakaways, unbelivable riding from Peter Sagan, yellow jersey in breakaway (GvA and Froome) and good sprinting by Cavendish. Maybe I should've given 5 or 6 but in the end the Tour could've been worse.
The lowlight of this Tour for me remains peegate which killed a good crosswind stage.

Barring Contador abandoning so early, it was not a bad Tour. Froome entering cohort of the greats, Porte finally confirming his undoubted class as a gc contender, Romain Bardet and Adam Yates stepping up - all these things will be remembered. Nonetheless Quintana's weak climbing form entailed a disastrous lack of action in the mountains and spoiled the party.

I'll give it a 5.

Also, I will honestly never grasp why someone's favourite rider/countryman winning or doing great will make the race that much better, say, a 7 or a 8. The race was still pretty trash overall.
It's human though :) . Had Pinot won, I'd have given it a 30. Had Quintana won by five seconds over Valverde, You would have given it a 60 ;) . It's hard to separate personal feelings and take an objective stance (unless you're Merckx_Index of course  ).

Overall, boring. But some riders lit the race up and entertained me somewhat. Sagan, Froome running, Pantano.

Sky's physical and tactical dominance ruined this for everyone, also Porte's mishaps early on and Contador's crashes and subsequent exit.

Fleche Wallone is stil not intriguing until the last kilometre and I was bored during in Giro in 2014, really. It would obviously had been elevated maybe 1 point, but not really more. A boring race is a boring race. I enjoyed the Tour in 2013 and 2015 much more than that Giro, fx, due to some great MTFs.

3/10

without stages 2, 11, 17, and 19 it would've been a solid 1/10. and 17 wasn't even that good, i just liked it because one of my favorite riders won the stage. i guess stage 9 was alright too, and some of the breakaways in the final week were okay. but it was a very underwhelming Tour.

I agree, we don't even know if he couldn't, or if it even was a ploy to dodge controversey

7.

Several reasons.
1) Bardet's performance and podium (fanboy vote).
2) Actually an unpredictable tour in many ways (who had that top 5, 3 weeks ago? Who thought Cav would beast Kittel?)
3) Sagan's aggression turning into victories
4) Much as I loathe SKY, I have to give kudos to Froome for taking risks and showing that he is a racer. And, yes, the running.
5) The emergence of some exciting talent (Alaphilippe, McLay, Pantano etc)
6) A decent, balanced parcours with early action.
7) Yates' performance
8) I've done ok in the CQ ranking game.

I have actually enjoyed it.

Froome was on the attack on the descent before crashing. He was certainly going for the stage win at Mont Blanc. You don't gain 10 seconds on the rest of the peloton by just 'defending' against Bardet's attack

Not everyone is incredibly biased. I fancy certain riders, but I'm also capable of valueing rides from riders I don't like.
I gave it a 2, maybe most of all based on the final dissapointing week.

Why should he? He had the entire team available and go get Bardet would not be a problem, since Bardet had reached 25s at a certain point

Scored it a 5 which is the lowest I have ever rated a tour. I thought it was a fantastic par cours but the battle for yellow did not live up to my expectations.

I voted 0, simply horrible this tour, contador gone very early, quintana didn't deliver, froome wasn't a beast and quintana made podium without make anything.

Compared to most TDFs nowadays, I'll give it a 6. Compared to most other races a 3. The Tour just hasn't been all that exciting recently but we had some memorable stages with Sagan, some good sprints, and Froome was entertaining although the rest of the GC riders were a disappointment to say the least.

I gave it a 3. There were some good moments- but notably almost none were related to GC. Grand tours are mainly about GC, so this really put a downer on the race for me. Froome was immense, I admit he won me over this tour. His attack on the descent and in the crosswinds was great, I only wish that he and SKY had completely destroyed everyone on one of the MTF in the 3rd week to complete his brilliant tour, but that is really just being picky. The most disappointing thing that made this tour so poor in my eyes was the lack of attacking racing and how strong SKY were. It sucks that a top 5 or a place on the podium is the limit of most GC guys ambition, but then I guess that brings in the WT points and keeps their contract rolling over. Plus points also included Sagan, Cav winning again and some of the breakaways guys (Pantano and Cummings especially). Shout out to Bardet for yesterdays stage, but one decent MTF could not save this tour.

Hopefully Froome, Quintana and some others will come and join contador et al at the vuelta and give us the GC battle we want.
