So, Van den Broeck and Devolder. I can almost buy VDB's statement*, looking at Zabriskie's affidavit (he was more or less shielded from the doping the first few years), but Devolder was a mature rider who was being groomed to compete in the GTs. No way I'll buy that.

*This bit doesn't put him in a good light, but it probably has more to do with his own past and his 8 in the suspicion index than with anything else:
Twice a fourth-place Tour de France finisher since then, Van Den Broeck continues to praise Armstrong. "Regarding training and commitment, he's still a role model to me. The way in which he prepared for the Tour was impressive," the Belgian said, before criticising the relative immunity of those who testified against the cancer survivor.

"The fact that Armstrong is treated differently than the witnesses is not fair in my opinion. They emphasize their regrets, but they've earned a lot of money during their careers. It's a bit lame I think."

They had very good doctors. They could inject Devolder without him noticing.

Yeah Devolder was juiced like nothing else too. Look at his results in different teams: Discovery/Bruyneel team: reasonable climber (very good for his build though). Then Lefevre/Quickstep and the guy begins to win monuments all of a sudden (sure, it helped that Boonen was team leader, but currently he can't even finish).

It's clear to see the priorities of the teams he was in.

Oh come on. I have no.idea why people like Andy schleck sans attacking so.much in the first place but to.deny that vdbs comments are almost as bad as anyone ?

It isn't. I was referring specifically to the probability that he didn't witness doping at the team personally. I don't think he's clean, hence the footnote in my post.

His 8 put him high in the rankings for sure, and a virtual confirmation of his errant ways. To play mister innocent now is insulting, and accusing others of being lame just goes to show which side of the fence he is on. It would be better if these dopers would just shut their traps.

Good start for the future UCI prez!

Yeah, I expect something like this from Millar by now, but if I didn't know anything about specific riders coming into this and just read all the comments, his would be the strongest so far, by far. It's a relief for me to get up this morning and hear him and Fabian being pretty outspoken about it; it was a bit depressing yesterday to hear the silence and even weird support that Armstrong was getting. Brian Smith, too, even though he doesn't have as much weight in the sport as either of Millar or Fab, had a really great response. I felt he toed the line of self-righteousness and 'poor me' pretty well, to the point where the main message of his article was 'f*** those guys for doping and ruining the sport'.

I wanna hear more Garmin riders' reactions, really - they seem like the only WT level team where riders wouldn't be afraid to speak honestly about it (maybe obviously, since 3 of their senior riders plus the head of the team were part of the report).

I love that at the eleventh hour there was a mass filing of comments/concessions/admissions. And they all stopped doping in 2006? Gotcha...

Everyone of these d*uche-bag liars have been part of Omerta for the beter part of a decade (if not more). Why did they come out now? The gun was to their head. If they weren't sh*tting their pants, there is NO WAY any of them would have 'fessed up. These are not heroes.

The sad fact is that the heroes are guys like Bassons, who burnt his own bridges by being honest. Where were these f*ck-wads then? Did they back him up? Did they offer support to him? Did they change what they were doing? Not even by an iota. They stuck to the plan. They kept on cranking.

To see them now, admitting their guilt, and showing no regard for the riders who had more moral fortitude than them (after all, they all said they didn't WANT to dope), is an utter disgrace.

I felt the same after Zable's admission, "Nice that you found honesty now, but what about the riders who WOULDN'T dope, where are they? F*ck you, Erik.".

And a really serious F*CK YOU to the cowards who are coming out now, because it's only due to pressure.

Been clean since 2006? Fool me once (which you tried), shame on me. Fool me twice... Well, too late for that...

You are lying cowards trying to play the 'level playing field' card when you really know what the truth is. It does not level the playing field, and you know you were cheating.

F*CK YOU!

You know the funny part. Hamilton (you know one of the d0uchebags you are referring to) actually agrees with you that the likes of Bassons were much braver then he is or ever was.

Don't forget Simeoni.
