Because he's Ricco and everyone needs a scapegoat to throw under the bus. His greatest problem is having the wrong passport.

Benotti - if you asked any pro to ride down to the shop to get a paper he'd want to shoot up first of all so I don't think Ricco is any different to any other cyclist in his inability to ride clean.

I don't think Ricco is the only knuckledragger in the peloton, Ricco isn't the only rider who flaunts his doping. But he does make a good punching bag to distract people from the real problems of the sport. He's a bit like Vino in that sense, when Vino won at the Olympics there were all the comments about how disgraceful that a doper was allowed to ride and win - ignoring of course the likes of David Millar, or all the dopers now involved with British cycling. Or the time Harmon was cheering on Piti and Cuddles to beat Vino. Making Vino, Ricco into these uber-bad guys means no one ever looks too closely at everyone else involved.

Yeah i agree with Ricco and Vino (to a lesser degree) being the punch bags while others like Boonen, Wiggins and C pedal off scot free.

I doubt Ricco will get back as any team wanting to hire him will be ostracised like Aqua&sapone for taking on Di Luca this year. Though that wont stop lots trying for the publicity.
