When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we have rainbows, day after day
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Que Cera, Cera,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Que Cera, Cera
What will be, will be.

Dumb and Dumber!

Hopefully ASO will not let Ricco ride the Tour ever again.

What if SHE was the one who was using CERA first and turned RR on to it, but has simply avoided being caught until now? One could imagine RR actually NOT having thrown her under the bus when he was caught ... he endeavours to protect her, thinks he has, serves his ban - continues to be a boor - but intends to return to competition w/o risking a lifetime ban and so trains cleanly.

The obvious answer is that he is the bad influence on her and that he corrupted her...but in Italy, the women riders know just as much about doping as the men when they're all at the elite level. Just sayin...

what do we know

they both got busted for using Cera
they both won major races
they had a child together

if cheating is part of the game, who cares about the consequences

i can assume she had a needle sticking in her arm a couple of weeks ago

Who took whose CERA virginity???

Ricco talked about racing clean because he is a father now.

Maybe he realized that he WILL have to take responsibility for having a kid (unlike being able to largely avoid the responsibility of acknowledging with genuine contrition the sins he committed against cycling and clean sport ) and perhaps he didn't bank enough of that super-star, pre-dope cheat loot, and so realizes that any hope he has of earning the kind of money that would be impossible to make w/o a trade or university education in Italy rests on his not testing positive a second time...b/c he has a kid to look after now and can't afford to get caught again (literally)...

But who knows. That's f'd tho when your partner gets popped nearly two years after you do for the same substance...and she was racing at the int'l level as far back as 2003/4, eh, so she probably didn't lose her PED virginity to CERA in 2009-10!

Rumour is that their child has applied to the UCI for a certificate to state that it has naturally HcT levels.

Dunno what the fuss is about, seems like they are just organising their domestic arrangements like any other normal couple do. She earn the money before the baby, and then he spent a bit of time at home for the birth.

Now hes back to work, she can afford to take a bit of time off raising the child while daddy cycles up mountains.

alterntively, the wifes first response when i told her "that child will fail a fricking drugs test to get into nursery"

One small thing in the cycling weekly article

However, the team's General Manager Roberto Marrone, worries Rossi's positive could threaten his team's invites to RCS Sport's races, like the Giro d'Italia and Milan-San remo.

"It is not a good thing, certainly," said Marrone.

"The team does not have relationships with the riders' partners, with the wives or sisters. I don't know yet if this will reflect negatively on the team."

is putting the team in a bad light enough for him to be sacked for... maybe its time for ceramica to realise that ricco aint nothing but a big packet of bad.

although to be fair, if Marrone was worried about things reflecting badly on the team maybe he shouldnt have signed ricco.

It's not just about Riccò. She's the sister of the team's main sprinter.

here are two opposing theories that vanya (or alternatively coni) may employ. i don’t necessarily believe or know it to be true as i have no special knowledge of any circumstances.

but for the discussion purpose it’s a plausible speculation frequently encountered in clinical experience (for vanya) or (alternatively) employed to catch dopers (for coni)

she is a mom of the several months old baby. the average blood loss with a cesarean delivery is about one liter, almost 20%. what if a doctor prescribed anti anemia medication cera? should be easy to prove. but then she should not have competed.

alternatively, she may have taken cera intentionally because she was slightly anemic after the delivery and wanted to compete as soon as possible. she may have counted on the fact (like many dopers before) that the lab her sample will go to does not test for cera. indeed, the rome lab never successfully tested for cera before. if we recall all italians caught with cera so far were either tested by the french or swiss labs. the giro 2008 samples also went to the swiss lab for retesting.

just brain storming...a

added - coni is a stubborn outfit.

Would it pass through the placenta, though?
saw a study that some high MW (similar to peg polymer ~60K dalton) indigenous substance pass through placenta in trace amounts.

Good brainstorming!

She has gone and denied knowing anything, so she has dug herself a little hole now. It will be next to impossible to prove she had Cera in her system unknowingly, and we all know what the chances are that the actual testing was flawed ...
