Favorite now to win the Giro at 4 to 6 ( ~60% probability). Vamos!

Carapaz has a shot at the pink jersey, but he'll have to play it smartly. Today he should collaborate with Visma to drop Del Toro on the Mortirolo. Then he could use the ramp of La Motte to drop Simon Yates with less than 10 km to go.

People have lost money on Del Toro, for sure. He's still way overrated here. He got outclimbed by around 7 riders from the favorites bunch after he sat on the wheels of his teammates the entire stage without sticking is nose in the wind.

Watch out for Derek Gee though. He finished really strong yesterday.

I believe Carapaz accomplished a few things attacking on Mortirolo.

He put Del Toro in the red. Reaffirmed Del Toro's weakness, Made sure Del Toro knows His limitations and know He doesn't have what Carapaz has.

Carapaz may have thought without attacking Del Toro on Stage 17, that He'd lose more time (on the stage) and felt He needed to soften up the kid & so attacked & limited His losses.

I give Carapaz credit. & He made the stage more exciting.

-On paper, Stage 17 suited Del Toro more.

Earlier stages in this Giro, (which have similarities to Stage 19 & 20), seem to expose Del Toro to lose time.

Yates too.
