Some people sit there and watch cycling on television with a stopwatch. They do all these calculations but it's so far from the truth. At the end of the day, I'm the one at the training camps flogging the hell out of myself up at altitude. It's hard work and nothing else. It's got to be the time that people believe in us and trust us.

Everyone, stop thinking critically and put away your stopwatches, for it doesn't matter if you go up the Madone quicker than Lance. To infer anything from that is internet pseudoscience. You just need to have trust.

This is where you use the trusted scientific method of looking into the eyes and determining that the person is telling the truth (or micro dosing and using altitude to mask).

Cycling needs more optometrists.

Lasik should sponsor a team!

You can be reset assured that when you look into one of our rider's eyes, they will be looking back into yours with 20/20 vision...

Yes, my friend, the B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin
and folic acid) in the Vegemite and the full cream milk
and cocoa in the Dairy Milk along with the 'nutriblasts'
made in his Nutribullet is what is propelling our Richie
to a new level of strength and fitness this season.

Also nocturnal activities done with heart monitor and power meter. All add another 10% power. Marginal girlfriend Gain

I would not describe the beautiful young Gemma as marginal,
my friend, but I do agree that finding the right partner can
make a huge improvement in an athlete's performance,
perhaps even the 10% increase in power you suggest. :)

but the question is, can she bench press richie's new 130lb physique post-coitus, like Serena Williams could, 2 sets, 20 reps, then a pair of Gauloises.

Contador better be scared:

RG: How have his performances in training compared to Wiggins and Froome?

TK: As time moves on, at some point times that were being done in training or racing by a previous generation will move on. Richie is redefining the standard for our training group

Interesting that Richie is from a different generation than Froome and Wiggo

Tim Kerrison:As time moves on, at some point times that were being done in training or racing by a previous generation will move on. Richie is redefining the standard for our training group.

lets correct this for reality;

TK: As doping moves on, at some point times that were being done in training or racing by a previous generation of dopers will move on. Richie is redefining the standard for our training group.

There that is more correct.

The swimming coach:
It is difficult over that time to quantify what happened with his power; but his power to weight has significantly improved. The trade of off is for time trialling. The performance requirement of time trialling is slightly different. It’s not so much power to weight but power to drag. You don’t want to lose too much raw power and [in the Giro] there is a 59.5km time trial. We don’t want to lose so much weight that we also lose that time trialling ability.

CN: When you arrived in Corsica at the start of the Tour, you wrote that you were "excited but holding on to your scepticism." The scepticism seemed to disappear pretty quickly. Was there a precise point or was it a gradual process?

DW: No, it was a gradual process of tiny little things that happened. We knew at US Postal that Armstrong always wanted a room alone, perhaps for good reason. Chris Froome preferred to share it with his mate Richie Porte.

RG: Richie posted on Twitter a picture of the interior of a double pop-out motor home that he will sleep in during the race. What is the reason behind this?

TK: We are exploring some opportunities around how we operate and testing some things during this race. It is part of that pilot project. We will keep a room for him in the hotel in this initial case, if the parking location isn’t great or if it’s noisy or because of security concern. It’s just a familiar environment he can go back to every night. He has got into a routine where he prefers to be on his own ... skip desert and go back to his room after dinner, speak to Gemma [Nicole Barrett, his fiancé] on the phone and then get to bed early. Sleep and recovery is so important. But we will play it by ear. There may be times where he will prefer to have a roommate.

Little Richie following in the footsteps of Armstrong. Walsh must be concerned.

Re:

When people started questioning him in January – in the way they questioned Brad [Wiggins] in the beginning of 2012 when he was winning races early, and with Chris [Froome] in 2013 - some sounded like a broken record saying, ‘You’ve hit your form too soon.’ All the guys did was to learn how to be consistent and professional and live the lifestyle of an elite professional athlete. Richie is on a very similar trajectory.
similar trajectory? I thought he was doing less training hours on the bike, whereas Froome was all about training more and more and more.
and 'learn to be consistent'? how do you learn that?
i think what he means is 'learn how to microdose efficiently'.

Walsh is only concerned with getting his pension from the ST. Doubt we will see any real 'journalism' from Walsh again while at ST, at least not about anything that Murdoch has a finger in.

Soulsearching, going about things differently...

The new consistent Porte must have his own perimiters so that he can microdose in peace...

Porte has a habit of a Kloeden type inconsistency that is synchonized to performance during contract year negotiations.

So I think his full *** moment is now.

going full *** back to mediocre back to full ***. it is like the Porte theory on Schroedinger ***, at once both *** and dead.
