Super climbers Gerrans and Slagter went 17s quicker last year than Porte did today.

Which things are the others watching that will lead them to similar results? The "go fast" part, or the "go faster" part?

Just meeting riders and looking them in the eyes is enough to acertain their GC future. It's voodoo I tell you!

DirtuWorks, you knew Richie was a triathlete a decade back.

But Kerrison was the swim coach, I think Lance had a triathlon coach as his movement specialist.

I like how the modern iteration of motoman gets a formal corporate title like "movement specialist".

sounds like a biological process, a bowel movement.

Seriously WTF.....

I'm among the first who needs oxigen due to unending laughter about any claim of Ian Thorpe being clean and that makes Kerrison himself a big question mark for me.... but comparing this guy with Motoman is ridiculous.

This is what's so incredibly frustrating about the clinic... this kind of bs. Because if this guy is indeed bad news, you can rank him in the brains part of the scale. He's the Head of Training. He ain't no scrub...

The hired hand who had to ride behind LA"s golden team and deliver the refills. See JV chat and recent pictures of amongst other Frank Schleck and an ex-ds called Sean Yates :D

Well, most of us here in the clinic here seem to agree... so his voodoo wasn't that bad ;)

Actually a quirky little article on little Rich.

Riding 400km just for the hell of it. Kerrison probably doesn't approve but what the hell.

Dang, nice story for a nice day. I can read that without going into the murky depths of this sport. That's indeed a perfect day out. I would do it with a quarter the mileage, but that's just my rickety old age :D

This. If you know that area you know that was one hell of a ride. A heart-warming story and well written. Put a smile on my face.:)

It is a good story and there's good reason behind posting it.

To circumvent the BS of Walsh. Cyclists, Pro or otherwise like to ride their bikes for fun. When they pretend all they did is ride to watt meters the fun goes out of it.

Sky riders ride for fun, drink beer and eat burgers despite the idiotsy of what Walsh presents.

It's a great article and would like to see more like it.

400k @ 29.5k avg, 230W for 13hrs, avg heart rate only 115. I presume that is Cams stats. Oh to be a pro cyclist.
And Wurf rode 190 something Km's up to Richies' place in Launceston the day before!

Clearly we're all about 1000km behind in winter training already?

That is some crazy base, for sure - even for WT. Richie is going to smash the Giro TT, I can see it now  Will be interesting to see how Wurf goes at the Sun-Tour too, he had a good opening TT.

I dont get why most people have Quintana as the giro favourite. Was he really a better climber than Richie last year? And I also get the feeling that now that Richie is set free to ride for himself, he will be even better this year.

A head 2 head between the two on CQ taking into account just mountains stages gives Quintana a lead of 7-4, no selection on race type also gives Quintana a lead of 21-20.

The big reason Quintana is down as the top favorite though is because of all his accomplishments in his 1st Tour. The new Skyborg Porte that started showing itself last year should be able to give Quintana a good challenge in the Giro though, prevent the race from being a walk for him.

IMO Quintana will still be able to handle and dispatch him when it counts though.

Sky showed some restraint last year with Wiggins pulling out of the Giro and Porte dropping off the TDF podium with barely a grimace. They would attract too much attention if they win multiple GTs in one season. So I would say Porte has little chance of winning the Giro.
