Yeah it's a bit of a head fck to consider the guy who has the world record for the 4km pursuit is nowhere near winning a TdF and riding for a pro conti team this year.
Bobridge was never going to be seen as a future Tour winner, but you'd expect someone who has:

IP World Record
National Road Champ
U23 ITT WC
Top 5 ITT WC

by the age of 23 to be an effective pro. And Budget Forklifts are Conti, not Pro Conti, even if they are one of the strongest Conti squads getting around.

Froome and Wiggins not expected to win the Tour neither

Plus wasn't the whole squad set-up to provide a track-focused environment for them (The Aussies) to be better set to compete with TeamGB in Rio ?

No it's not a squad set up for track riders or track focus. It's a conti team of road riders who are giving him a ride so he can focus on the track.

I doubt someone who does this for a living would trade in a multi million dollar TdF win for a gold medal at the olympics.

that was my thesis to why Wiggins was a fraud too. He would not have been schlepping for 100k euro from Cofidis supplemented by 30k gbp from British Cycling, when he could have been earning Flandis numbers on the road like 1million gbp per.

he could compete with the russian oligarchs who are buying real estate in belgravia in london

some good full *** riding by little richie

you used to have to wait for January 04 for Saiz to bring down his ONCE or Liberty Seguros charges for some IGF-1 from Gropep thnx Mike to get full *** before the European season. took Richie little Richie Porte to bring it but and did not Adelaide love it with some suppression of disbelief and some cognition dissonance. only adelaidians. meta full ***.

Stage 5. Old Willunga Hill (3.00 km, 7.27 %, 218 m) Richie Porte: 6 min 43 sec 26.80 Kph, VAM 1947 m/h

2015:3,6 km@7,1%---7:48---average speed 27.69 km/h(Richie Porte)

2 different points. Not bad. 30 seconds faster than last year comparing 3.6 km and a new record.
Although we need 2000 ++ VAM to compete for the full *** award on that kind of climbs.

Has someone calculated how many W/kg? Surely 7 W/kg for 3 km should be normal for top riders ?

@ammattipyoraily huge tail wind up there mate. It was nice and much needed. ;-)

Here we go again... I think he also said that there was a hurricane aiding Froome on Ventoux, he seems to be an expert of tailwind.

Yep, this was impressive but not full ***. He attacked with 1.2km to go, before that he was very well sheltered from the wind, getting a tow from a big group
who are you to be the arbiter of full ***. this is the clinic 12, and you sir, dont get to decide if it is or if it is not full ***.

january, hot weather, = full ***.

You want full *** Porte?

They did that all year.

I'm looking forward to the tension with Froome. Maybe Sky will fund Team Porte???

You'll know when Froome feels threatened, he'll start calling Porte, "Richard" like he he calls Wiggins "Bradley".

Porte will have no issues going aggro on Dawg. My only fear is if Cound will be able to handle the threat to the Dawg Empire?

The weird thing about is was that he suddenly turned into one of explosive riders in the peloton. His acceleration is almost equal to that of the Dawg.

Good auld fashioned Sky tactic of going to the front and ride everyone off your wheel... Accelerate and if that doesn't get rid of them accelerate some more... Simples!!!

2013 - massive tailwind
2014 - massive headwind

If there was a tailwind then this year probably wasn't much better than last in absolute terms, but phenomenal attack nonetheless. Individuals sprinting uphill for 2 minutes straight seems to be happening a bit more often lately.
