That indeed was an awesome stage win. Not only his ability to climb with Froome (and other GC leaders) without a problem, but the way he came into the finish with just two gears due to a broken derailleur.

I know how good he is and the big endurance he has. He is much better in good weather than in the bad weather he was second in bith Giros. He just need the luck he missed most of his career.
He was close to bewhite jersey in his first Tour, some mountain stages with the best rider. He was sick in the end and he lost lot of time one day.
It is not a surprise to see he on the podium, and I have said always he is at the level of the best in an endurace race.

Very happy for Rigo. I never was a big fan of his, even when he rode for Unzue on the great Caisse d' Epargne-team (nostalgia...) but the guy really deserved this! And the queen stage, thats simply just great. Also happy for one particular Cannondale-fan on this forum, this win was extremely memorable and a big deal.

Yes once he got the big gear rolling and with the form he has been in it was enough to grab a fine win. But he looked a bit confused after the finish like he thought he wasn't supposed to win that one !

i think he will just follow the moves like he has been doing. Not sure he is good enough to attack Froome, Bardet and Aru but those are the three that will probably attack. Will be curious to see what Quintana can do, usually this is the stage of the race he wakes up but so far he hasn't looked good.

But where is he taking time on Froome? If anything, even he'll lose time on the time trial and although he's quite a good descender, is he good enough to drop Froome downhill? He's definitely not good enough to drop him uphill.
But yes, a podium is very very possible

If he's been hiding his cards well, I'd go and say he can podium. He is pretty complete rider and has potential at least for 5 stages to climb up a bit. Lets hope he can animate this race a bit, enought Kittel stuff already
IMHO he's always been more complete rider than say Quintana, but he is of course more classics rider whereas Quintana is more of GC rider. Deffo Uran can stand the third week well if preparations are ok.

Imagine if he had his 2014 form in the time trials as well, then he would have been a contender to win thhe whole thing.
