Alaphilippe was 5th in Stage 3 of the Nations Cup in Saguenay, QC.

At 1.00, you can see Julian in his White Jersey being part of the breakaway. A 10-man group with his team mate Florian Sénéchal. It was early in the race (Lap 2). The group will be caught at K48. Bunch sprint.

He retains the White Jersey and still is 2nd overall. :)

I forgot to mention that Rabo Giant won the team classification of the Tour of Nivernais Morvan. Gert-Jan Bosman said on his off website that the guys had to work hard in the last stage because the leader's team mates looked tired. That's how the leader lost his jersey after that stage but Lars kept his 3rd spot and Gert-Jan, the 5th.

Here's a picture of Lars's win :):

21 Kevin Pauwels : 3rd in Stage 3, he won the bunch sprint, raising unconvincingly an arm because he was not sure whether there were escapees ahead or not. KP had a cold the last few weeks and he says it’s not over yet but he’s feeling better. It was very warm whether in the Czech Rep, up to 38°C.

Fidea was 5th(/24) at the TTT in Stage 3.

Rob Peeters was disqualified for hanging to the team car during the climbing of a pass (Stage 2), which was denied by both Rob and Danny De Bie ! He was disappointed because he couldn’t race the TTT, which he liked.

Seems odd but it depends a lot on which races were included, of course

Stybar winning his stage at the Tour of Poland. He was again in a super shape today, attacking on the côte du Hornay (Sprimont) at the Tour of Wallonia. Di Luca, Betancur, Tiralongo and Hermans joined him. Bruwier and Buelens, commentators from RTBF said he was the fastest bt I think if Betancur can outsprint Pauwels, he can also outsprint Stybar.

Belgian MTB Nats – July 22

Elite
Winner Kevin Pauwels
13 Jan Denuwelaere

Nys did not start because it did not fall into plan for his Olympic campaign. Yet the other Olympian, Van Hoovels was there and probably the best man in the race. He escaped in the very first lap with his teammate Carrabin, and the two crossers Pauwels and Meeusen who will eventually retire due to the heat. KP said he tried several times to take the lead from him but any time, KVH would accelerate himself. During the last lap, KVH had two chain problems + a pedal problem during the sprint, which cost him the win. KP surprisingly retains his Belgian title. Nobody have bet on him, really. KVH was really bitter.

I forgot about the last event of the MTB Belgacom Trophy in Boom on August 4.

But I can't possibly find the final ranking (and I'm p*ssed), if anyone has got it, I'd really be much obliged. ;)

4 Sven Nys
9 Michiel van der Heijden
16 Sven Vanthourenhout
19 Bart Wellens

I know that Nys wins the Belgacom Trophy but that stops here !

Some notes on transfers:

Chainel moves to AG2R. He did not feel at home at Fjeux, apparently.

Lars van der Haar is currently racing the Tour of Leon as a stagiaire for Continental Rabo. And say he's always hated road racing, lol.

MTB Olympics – August 12

3 Marco Aurelio Fontana
8 Geoff Kabush
10 Todd Wells
16 Marek Konwa

Fontana finished saddle-free, lol. I don't think he would've won. Schurter and Kulhavy seemed stronger but he was good. He attacked in the final two laps in the same hairspinners. Nys DNF. Two punctures, and a chain break apparently.

SLAG OM NORG - AUGUST 12

Considered a criterium but I question it. A 109.2km long race seen as a Dutch version of the Montepaschi Strade Bianche (in my opinion, rather comparable to Tro Bro Leon). In any case a great race on non-asphalt roads !

Norg is part of the town Noordenveld, in the Drenthe province, Northern Netherlands.

And 5 cyclocrossers as the first 5 !

1 Mike Teunissen Rabobank Rabobank - Giant Offroad Team 02:47:47
