To me the only real interesting thing is if UAE is gonna just drive a hard pace all day or if they're gonna send guys in the break that are supposed to threaten MvdP and force MvdP to cooperate.

If no serious break gets ahead I don't see why Van der Poel doesn't just suckwheel Pogacar adn then does turns at 80%.

Rewatching pieces of 2023 it's pretty clear Pogacar really only did go all out on the Kwaremont and Koppenberg. On the Koppenberg Van der Poel already struggled a lot to follow and it was actually Van Aert who closed the gap Van der Poel was dropping there.
Champions like VdP don’t just suck anybodies wheel all day.

Every rider outside 2 teams might at least try here, if just to stay in the race longer than usual.

For Pogacar, 45K from the finish is hardly "that far out".
Point taken. Still believe he chooses to go solo when he believes a strong chase can't be formed right away. In Worlds the parcour suited him for a long attack. In Strade in 2023, his team destroyed the peleton so that a chase couldn't form after Pog's attack.

The greatest champ wasn't the rider in front:

Has the great grandfather of cycling, Brandon Mcnulty, taken off his slippers to race today?

He hasn't. But as a wise old man he could know where to find the portal.

Or you can meet him before the race starts and he gives riders side Quests for the race to achieve some magical assistance, really needed against Pog and vdP.
