Yes yes yes! Loving this result. It couldn't be any better. Beating WvA by an inch. Perfect
These two were too evenly matched today to finish it any other way. They will have more aggressive finishes in the future I'm sureI'm just glad it's over. If this is the Boonen-Cancellara rivalry of the 2020s, I might as well be watching trains at the Tour if today is anything to go by.
SInce it was practically a standstill, there was nearly no advantage of coming out of the wheel. I think van Aert should have started sooner, because he is always great at long sprints. For me, van der Poel has more acceleration.MvdP's strength: starting the sprint early and keep going.
Best thing about this race. We get another Flanders in six months!
In better form than when? He pulled out a dramatic show of strength just five days ago suggesting if he had been there today he'd have been in pretty good form.Hope Sagan will be there and in better form than this year![]()
The tension between the two was obvious, and they were clearly head and shoulders above everyone except possibly Alaphillippe. They way they floated up the cobbles on the Paterberg compared to the chase group spoke huge volumes.Amazing RvV.
The biggest rivalry in cycling nowadays, both professionally and personally, and two riders with a personal connection to the region.
A lot of drama and emotion with an incredible finish.
And the most beautiful thing; this rivalry on the road has just begon.
