I would say he was an over average climer before 08?

Yes, he finished 10th in the 2005 Giro for example and 11th in 2007. Still, I was more comparing his early season form last year(which led to many 'Sella back to his old tricks' type comments) with his Giro form.

A lot of people seem to forget how average Sella was before 2008.

I haven't. He was barely able to break into the Giro top ten in the gc. I believe that is his true level. At best a stage chaser and likely an unwilling

he is the most talented bike rider of his generation. that is something else than most succesful bike rider. although I;m entirely certain that unless rujano has some back luck he will tear down the giro field this coming may. even on etna(nibali's home climb) and rujano not in topshape rujano was a lot better than nibali. the finestre stage saw a sick rujano do a lot better again than nibali, who had to be softpedaled by szmyd to mask how bad he truly was on that climb
