Yes that's how I see most dismissals with most jobs. Have just remembered that the head NZ coach has announced his resignation in their papers but it isn't until after next year's Commonwealth Games to make it a nice slow transition to head coach for the present assistant coach. None of that for Salswedel. Gee it's a poor look for British Cycling. They would all be looking out for a knife in the back for sure.
The jump from dismissal to resignation - actually, to not renewing a contract - is ... athletic.

You said yourself that someone resigning could or should be treated the same way with a big heavy escorting them from the building immediately. Must be sad living in England. You people have lost all trust in your fellow man. Especially in cycling.

Wasn't Dyer mates with Wiggins and Salzwedel and co? They worked together as a team towards their success in Rio. Now Dyer is sacking his mates? It's an absolute mess.
Being 'mates' doesnt mean an awful lot in this business, sadly.
Isn't (or at least wasn't) Sutton big mates with Wiggins. Yet who spilled the jiffy bag.

Salzwedel getting sacked now is interesting but on closer inspection it shouldn't surprise anybody.
Shortly before the DCMS report this is good PR for BC ('look at us cleaning house!'), Salzwedel gets a golden handshake, everybody happy.

This story sounds a lot like one guy hanging another guy (Salzwedel) out to dry to save his own hide. It should not be difficult to work out who that one guy is.

Apparently before signing for TeamSky people have to sign NDAs or no deal.

I dont expect Salzwedel to talk to media. But he will be working again soon.

Re:

NDAs as thick as telephone books no doubt.

Totally agree, no reason whatsoever to assume Salzwedel will sing.
In a climate of fear, golden handshakes, and NDAs, nobody's gonna sing anytime soon.
Happy to be proven wrong of course.

Is it only Team Sky asking people to sign NDAs? If in fact, Sky is doing it, I find it difficult to believe that others aren't.
Yeah, the secrets will die with Salzwedel it seems.

It is probably all teams doing it.

But Sky have had such a big turnover off people and lots of controversy yet little in the way of people talking about the 'inner workings'. That is more likely to do with wanting to stay working in the sport, than NDAs.

I would think all teams have their most important people sign NDA's. Sky no different. But that is why I don't expect anything from Salzwedel. Sky probably had more money and resources for him to work and now that things are getting kinda sketchy, he had to go. In another time, he probably would have another job the next day but today maybe he is just too toxic.

I wouldn't be surprised if, say, Australian cycling haul him back in, although they'd be clever enough to wait for the DCMS report before doing so.

Well there were two ways to go regarding a clean out. 1) to have people resign with dignity with made up reasons to look like it's all amicable. 2) to do what they are doing and making it look like they're taking a big stick to the set up.

Salzwedel never worked for Sky.

You're right. I meant British Cycling. It's incestuous anyway

Between wilfully misreading what's written, crying bully when you disagree with someone and making fatuous assumptions about posters, you really are taking the fun out of this.

NDAs are actually quite normal in many jobs these days, I really don't see the problem others do with the allegation that Sky use them.

Glad I don't live and work in England. You were once well known for your sense of justice and doing the right thing. Very sad indeed.

There's nothing wrong with NDAs, they simply stop people flitting between companies spilling their previous employer's expertise as they go.

As for being escorted off premises by 'heavies'...i think you lot have watched too much Hollywood, it's usually just a run of the mill fellow employee who walks with you to make sure you clear your desk of your belongings but nothing belonging to the company.

Standard practice in well paying jobs.

Later reports corrected the notion that he was walked off the premises by heavies. The early reports - Mail or Express? - went for drama.

It's still a good story, to be fair.

I dont know how anybody can watch Salzwedel get kicked out and not wonder why someone as tainted as Keith Lambert is still there.

And what about Brian Stephens. It's hardly a secret that Brian (brother of Neil) was brought into BC on the recommendation of Salzwedel.

Also, has any journo tried to talk to Bill Mitchell? (see upthread)

And why was Sir Chris Hoy going to Salzwedel's home town Cottbus all the time to prepare for big races.

Many questions. The sports journos as per usual dont know where to look. Or simply prefer to keep the blinders on.

So you have concerns about Michael Matthews who has been coached by Brian Stephens.
