Im slightly disapointed with his Tour even though he won Luz. Winning Alpe would have changed that, but alas. Should be good to see him on Paris podium though with the dots though. That could cheer me up.

Understandable. If not for some early stage misfortunes who knows what may have happened. BUT, you shouldn't feel too down. He has ridden admirably.

In fact they all rode admirably today. Guts were spilt everywhere. I was a little disappointed Cadel did not try more earlier on Huez, but he had done a ton of work yesterday and also on today's stage just to get back up to the main group after his mechanical. So I can't be too disappointed either.

lol, he looks like hes lifting the atlas stone in that celebration.

Sammy celebrates everything like if it was him winning the Olympic gold medal all over again.

Pais Vasco stage 5, Burgos stage 4, TDF Stage 12, GP Mig, every single win has the screaming and the fist pumps and all, its like you wonder if he always leaves half of his energy levels in store just in case he wins so he can celebrate.

Him and Contador are the 2 gentlemen of our sport. It was a joy to see them working together through this Tour.

Breaking news, worlds is also an aim for Samu. After his tour podium.

Is he riding the Vuelta for prep? Can't see where he's gonna get enough race days in September otherwise.

Congrats to Sammy. Strong in a race that suited him well. He will still lose minutes come July and a flatter long ITTs.

But Worlds? Yes.

Pais Vasco is still a climbers' race. More suited to the men who won the day. I am glad we can see guys like Sanchez and Rodrigues shine. Worlds? I have not seen the profile yet.

I do, actually, but of course it all depends on how the race plays out. Nonetheless Spain has at least 3 cards to play on the Cauberg (Jrod, Samu, Valv), perhaps even more if Bert rides aand/or Freire gets over the climb. But Samu is versatile, ie. could take a flyer when everyone's in the red and then try go home full gas, wait for the sprint in a very reduced group...

Despite riding for Euskaltel, Samu is not an appalling ITT rider of the Mosquera-Rodríguez-Antón mould.

I know there was a hill in this but I submit for your consideration:
http://cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=20840
6. [ESP] SANCHEZ GONZALEZ Samuel EUS 01'37" 10
7. [SUI] CANCELLARA Fabian LEO 01'42" 5

Also in the 2009 Vuelta, Samu was the GC man who made the biggest gains in the ITT, taking time out of Cadel Evans in them.

I am thinking of last ITT in this year's TdF. No hill, no thrill for Sammy?

He did look dialed in on that bike today though.

Will he also be at the classics this month?

yes he always rides them, tho for some reason while having nice results in all 3 he only seems to be a real factor every year in FW

You know where he finshed that tt

Plus it was hilly

Sami has always been alright on the tt-bike hasn't he. If his level on the TT-bike is like this in July, he has just stepped one step further up on my Tour-favorites list

But we have seen this before with him haven't we. As good as he can be as avarage he can be as well. But what a rider.

He actually got 2nd finishing behind Millar, but top gc finisher nonetheless.

Won the 07 vuelta tt, but I forget the profile. On good form and good mentality he can put in great tt
