Samu is doing a great ride in this TDF. His climbing is much better in comparison to last year when compared to his opposition - last year he had no chance of matching AC and AS. This year things are different.

He was very unlucky to lose all that time in stage 1. If not for that he may be the favourite to win it right now. As it is he still has a chance. People are talking up stage 17, but what about stage 16? That seems like a nice descent for Samu to take some time on.

This is a strange Tour, with the strangest performer for me being Andy. He just doesn't have CLOSE to his form from last year. Some suggest that he needs AC to ride/attack with him, but I disagree, since he did ALL the work on Tourmalet last year when he destroyed the rest of the field. Clearly he just isn't in the same shape, and this gives numerous other riders (including the incredible Voeckler) a chance to stand on the top step in Paris.

If he gets another Stage win on Wednesday (surely he's got to be the favorite in Pinerolo) and if he could grab the KOM jersey, that would be a mighty impressive Tour in itself.

To Samu and Fränk he has. Samu has only lost the 3 seconds or so to Evans today, which doesn't cancel out the gains he made on Luz Ardiden and Plateau de Beille.

A bit of a relief though, and Samu will be happy with his Luz victory.

I still think he payed for stage 1 and 2. if he had gone in level, he wouldnt have killed himself for peanuts in the pyranees and he would have much more belief.

I agree with hitch, he was to far down after the crashes and TTT. Then had to use energy just to gain a little time back. If not for the crashes he would be around evans and frank.

Pfff didn't you read today's stage threat. Samu sits in people's wheels before he attacks therefore he's a wheelsucker and we have to hate him .

Seriously though Samu, Contador, Andy and Evans are the 4 GC guys that made this tour. Samu might not have been at his greatest but damn does he try every day.

Im slightly disapointed with his Tour even though he won Luz. Winning Alpe would have changed that, but alas. Should be good to see him on Paris podium though with the dots though. That could cheer me up.

Guess I have to wait till the Giro but it should be awesome when it comes and i think he can win.
