He just posted something somewhat less distressing:

I just hope he gets help.

"I have to and I will win this race".

He's ok. But I can understand why he's so upset.

He really was picked out from a large scrum of dopers.

Always the way. Hit the low hanging fruit.

I don't think he's OK by any stretch of the imagination. You don't tweet that kind of stuff publicly if you're simply mad.

It's the same with Ricco.

There needs to be some form of program to help those who test positive. A UCI program on education. The cutting off and isolation helps no one.

Especially when the remaining 80% of the peloton is doping and getting away with it.

Best idea I've heard of in a long time. I don't want to offend people with serious illnesses, but a doping positive is something like a diagnosis of cancer. It instantly turns your life upside down. You wonder, "why me, what did I do that others didn't do?" And in the past, though thankfully not so much now, cancer patients were often treated as pariahs, as though it were their fault.

Again, I'm not saying dopers deserve as much sympathy as those with a serious illness, but the psychological shock I think is not dissimilar. I guess LA would know this better than anyone.

Agree. The Hog's suggestion is the right idea.

I touched on this yesterday on the LA thread and the mental well being of a person after the impact of something like this. The issue goes deeper than just a simple positive and returning to sport at a later stage.

Maybe this is where the national anti-doping agencies could also help as it would cover all sports, not just cycling. We see in the extract from the new book that Tygart and Bock were concerned about this regarding LA.

Its sad that some dopers get knighthoods while others end up like this, but as Hitch would say its all in the game.

The suspension is 6 months to 2 years. You want them to come back to the sport.

But the UCI knows everyone is doping. So it's easier to drop them and cut the off so they keep their mouths shut.

The only way back in is to say nothing.

Then there's the blatant protection of others who dope and bring in money.

That doesn't make sense. If you cut them off, the only incentive they have to remain silent is any displaced sense of loyalty towards their colleagues. If the peloton ostracizes them, even that is gone.

For certain personality types, that's a good way to get them to talk (hi Floyd).

Not saying easy targets aren't being cut off and ostracized, since it's obvious that's happening. But it can't be a conscious effort to shut them up. It's external PR, not internal management.

Damn straight. The last thing cycling needs at the moment is another Pantani/VDB/Jimenez case. Surprising that there hasn't been a high profile implosion since these guys, I was worried Ricco might go that way.

Sad? Infuriating more like, and it's how you end up with cases like Pantani and Jimenez

I doubt seriously he did it for twitter followers, ok that's idiotic. Would you think he was an idiot if he suggested that dopers are master manipulators?

Santambrogio's twitter this morning he is "saved". Maybe it was just a bad night.
If he said dopers are master manipulators today in what would be an obvious reference to Santambroggio's cry for help? Yes, I'd still think Terpstra is an idiot. Absolutely.

Let's hope Terpstra doesn't ever get really depressed, we don't want him to have to go to Dr. Ibarguren for help.

Terpstra has deleted his tweet and issued a weak-*** apology:

He is an stupid, and he must pay. [disrespectful bit deleted by mod] people as him have made very hard the lives of other people, and make a lot of pain in this beautifull sport.

Is he a victim? why??

He is not the only guilty maybe in his case, but no more.

He is been coward, he must be brave and apologize, and if he know something he can prove, talk.

This world is crazy, people as Wiggins always questioned, and this stupid and MF boy been praised for some fans.

what a BS!!

I hope other riders [speak out like Terpstra]...but maybe they dont want to lose time or give more publicity to this "man"...

[ . . .]Mauro, out of cycling!!

I have sympathy for anyone who is suicidal, doper or not (my thoughts turn to Obree), but then I don't like accusing people of doping without real evidence either
