Evans support group kicks in to action.

In the Dauphine, the irrelevant training race, Evans lost 4 seconds to Brad and beat Dennis by 9 seconds.

Maybe Evans was peaking for a training race, who knows.

But please, keep going with the rewriting of history and pretending this is a par performance for Cadel. He's better than this, and he will probably show it tomorrow, but it's sweet to watch you denying his ability.
no its being realist...

9 seconds can easily be made up and passed in 3 weeks

your acting like its the worst performance in history and he's down by 100 seconds

Get real

Well, that only shows how much you'll have to fear Menchov in the coming 3 weeks. ;)

I agree, and I'm pleased that for once you're beating a tactical retreat in the face of reality.

I'm sure Evans will do well over the next few weeks, but this performance today was less than he is capable of.

Incidentally I also think Wiggins was slightly below par today, but it's masked by Tony's incident and Cadel's performance.

Compared to their TT ability, Evans has a much better pedigree in short efforts than Dennis. He was 20 seconds in front in 2010 (the tour where Dennis was good and Cadel was crap).
Don't think Cadel was crap at the start of that Tour. He was coming off the Giro and took yellow early on, before he cracked (his elbow).

It's a bit windy to be constructing strawmen.

You are acting like it was a good or average performance. It was below par for cadel. 8 times out of 10, he would do better in this situation. It could have been worse, but please stop the delusion and admit it was not good.

Or was it just Menchov that did better than he's capable of?

;)

Hey, I thought Wiggins was disappointing after the first time check and then he ended up nearly winning.

9 seconds in 6km is a fair whack, when we have 95 more km of TT to go.

Well... some interesting results. Sagan, Samu, Monfort, JVDB... disappointing. Cancellara, Nibali, Menchov... on the other hand.

Oh well. Nibali takes a staggering 10 seconds on JvdB. I wouldn't see to much into it. Explosiveness isn't exactly the strong point of latter one

stop acting like he's lost the tour then...

Losing 9 seconds to no.1 rival and 4 behind his 2nd is not the end of the world and certainly not the end of the Tour de France

Dennis was above average, but there are soo many other names between Evans and first for it to be blamed on false comparisons.

Agree on Wiggins - stormed it back after a poor start, but its too short to give away the opening like that.

Ive said that Wiggins will be strong in TT and Cadel better in the mountains - whos better over 3 weeks will win the Tour

Yeah, Evans expected to lose time to Menchov, and his own ****ty teammate.

Honest Guv, nothing to see here.

It was a great time by menchov and Tejay.
I already mentioned that I expected evans time to be around where it was.
And his ****ty teammate performed pretty well.

@happychappy if people don't read my posts then why do so many people reply to my posts??

Anyway these time gains are minor, I expect cadel to be able to gain the 9 seconds back on the few hilly stages.
