This situation really sets us up for a great race in the alps, but like you said andy is a lot of talk so far without delivering.

Look, Andy is capable of tearing the race apart I think, Frank I'm not so sure. I don't see Frank winning this tour de france. Andy although in a worse position is potentially thier best bet. It is a gamble I guess.

Would be great if ANdy attacked early today.

Yesterday Frank showed much better form than Andy, unless it was simply a matter of Frank being much better at descending than Andy, thus the big time difference in their finishes.

I disagree.

Fränk was dropped on the climb BEFORE Andy. Fränk couldn't hold Evans wheel when closing the gap to Contador. Andy hung around for quite a bit longer.
On Plateau de Beille Fränk was also clearly weaker than Andy and was momentarily dropped when the best 5 rode away. But then they all held back again and Fränk came back.

Firmly disagree with the Fränk is better than Andy climbingwise bullsh.t

really? surely not..

Really and truly. I taped it and didn't watch the stage until just after midnight this morning. When Liggett said it, I was simply speechless but then that is how Versus has promoted their cycling telecasts all along, with Contador as the bad guy and Leopard-Trek/The Schlecks/Cancellara, Jens & "Stuie" as the ones that will rescue cycling.

People's champ? Ridiculous! But if Phil, Paul and Curly keep saying it, then the sheeple will believe it. It has worked before.

Luckily I finished my coffee before reading your post or I'd have sprayed my monitor!:D

Well, I can't read the link really... forgot most of the french I ever learned ;)
I am disappointed to hear this from Fränk though... I still had some respect for that Schleck. Not sure how much is left ;(
He said 'I remember last year, I was on my sofa... when he attacked on the famous 'chain-drop'. Today, he attacked on the descent. That shows he's a bit nervous.'

Worse, he complained about Contador attacking on the descent, comparing it to the 'chain incident' last year:

What a ****er.

Here's a quick translation:

"it's his choice. He has the right to do that, to attack in the descent. He has to decide." he said after crossing the line. "I remember last year... I was on my sofa. He attacked at the (in)famous chain dropped. Today, he attacked in the descent. It shows that he's a bit nervous."

They really like saying AC is nervous. Last year I read "Contador est nerveux", this year after stage 4 I read "Contador is nerveus", and now again.

Thanks for the translation :)
Well, thats not *that* bad, if thats how Fränck see it. It is not how I see it though; I see a Contador who want's to win, and is willing to take risks toward that goal.

And I wish more riders would show the same :D

They want him to be nervous SO badly ;)

And in the same Equipe article, Schlecklet continues to whine about yesterday and today's descent.

Should have seen that one coming. Of course they are whining as a team. Andy do most of the whining but since it is so obvious he would whine about Contador, Frank take his share.

what Frank said today is simply ridiculous, to say that a rider who attacks is nervous just shows why the Schlecks will probably never win any GT

Contador looked calm and confident to me. Not even when his knee was double size there was any sign of nervousness. He never panicks, that is one of his forces.

i think he's suggesting that he's nervous about the next two days and is attacking wherever he can to make up time instead of just trying to top them in one go in the alps - if that makes sense.
I get the feeling that the schlecks believe that this year's tour will be won by one great attack on one stage, rather than gradually piece by piece like Contador is doing.

some boxers go for the round by round points and punch "lightly but constantly", where as others just go for a haymaker knock-out regardless of what time in the match they land it. hope the analogy works

Voeckler who went off the road 3 times and lost time didn't complain about the descent, yet the Schlecks continue on to whine. So annoying the people's champion and his serf are.
