Wow. Leopard is the name of Nygaard's management company, I believe. And as he's Danish I would guess that it's the Danish pronunciation. Seems reasonable enough to me, but maybe I missed the new UCI rule that all team names have to be pronounced as if they're English. You know, some of us actually think that's the right pronunciation of Leopard. But then, the correct pronunciation of "Wiggins" is Viggins". ;)

Seriously, there are many, many weaknesses to point out in Team Leopard and their management, and yes, I think that their PR stinks. But pronunciation of the team name is not a major problem.

It is in the English speaking world. Which is where my quarrel lies. They sound like pretentious Europhile prats. Perhaps you don't realise that English speaking non European nations are already plagued by commentator inadequacies? Matthew Keenan, along with Paul and Phil change pronounciation of riders names on whim every night.

How about we ignore the fact English is the most spoken language in the world and the spelling is English? Yeah why not. Then lets take the personal request of a niche, minute group and allow them to dictate to the non European English speaking nations how the word is spoken? Nothing more than elitist arrogance. Welcome to the New World Order...we bark, you do.

But you are right it isn't a major issue, but it is damn annoying. Almost as annoying as Andy's whining yet again about another "dangerous decent."
I'm hoping the *** blows a gasket and leaves the race. I have never heard such belly aching from a grown professional sportsman like Baby Schleck has come up with this week. His whole tactic last night was I'll ride at the front in order to stop others leading the descent. I lead, we go down my speed, nobody gets time on me. Idiot held Evans up. If Cadel had of been with Samu and AC, their move would have pulled 10 seconds easy. Did Andy chase? Nope, Franck had to do that. Loser.

How many times did Levi and kloeden go down. Why risk your life? Is that professionalism?

Seriously harden the F&#K up or at least tell Shlecklet to. Wouter died and how did Leopard react? Like pussies. Brice Feillu wanted to honour his team mate by racing. Team leaves. Go figure.

What you just written is *** beyond belief. If a professional rider has that much fear of riding, he should remove himself from the race because with his mindset he is a danger to the peloton. I don't care how many people have crashed in the year, that is separate and yes tragic and bad, but it has nothing to do with this parcours and the race. Every use of "dangerous course" and "descents" is always, always done by a Leopard Trek rider. Why? Not because it is dangerous, nobodies crashed the last few days other than Hivert and Voeckler mismanaging a few corners. So why? Because Schleck 1 and Schleck 2 have a weakness. A weakness they don't want people to exploit. Just the same old ridiculous notions of self entitlement paraded by this team again and again. "Only our way is the right way." Sheesh dude, use your brain and stop buying into the lies and PR nonsense. Ever heard of questioning? It's permitted...ALWAYS!

They know the course. If they have a deficiency in their cycling repetoirre it is up to them to rectify their training to improve themselves. Did I hear the Schlecks complaing when Jurgen and Vino went out? Was it dangerous then? Did I see them wait...no they pushed the pace harder by sending the big Leopard Trek boys to the front. Contradiction no? Hypocritical yes, maybe not to you though. No...only now, when they are losing time is there a problem with how the race is being ridden. That is the difference. Same nonsense as last year. Andy can't do something and it's everyone elses fault he lost time. It's self serving BS, nothing more. Everyone else descended well. Everyone else can shift properly without dropping a chain. Only the Schlecks complain. They are losers. Nothing more nothing less. It will be quite fitting when they don't make the podium. Your points would hold weight if non Leopard Trek riders were whinging...but they aren't.

What you've tried to defend is arrogance beyond comprehension personified in an egotistical little boy who believes he is the best rider in the world and any move that he cannot match is automatically heresy, disrespectful and poor sportmanship. What you've weakly defended is bad sportsmanship and a sore loser. In Australia we have a saying..."Harden the F&#K up!" Schleck would be well versed to do so.

No doubt Gallic you have a point Urdu, however, this year has been insane with hardcore pro injuries. I think the Schlecks are being sensible and not arrogant. I etched today an euskatel rider descending quite quickly and safely, though not every rider is as skilled as samomy Sanchez, Contador or menchov.
Idont know why but riders have been hurt and for why reason?

Lol at Menchov being a good descender......i am having visions of menchov on the Col de la Bonette in 2008 tour now......looked like he was riding a shopping trolley down the Bonette.

Lol and the only rider able to crash whilst attacking uphill.....

You seriously need to get a ****ing grip. A Danish company using a Danish word pronouncing it in Danish is hardly either arrogant, pretentious (do you even know what the word means? I'm guessing no) or evidence of a "New World Order".

If anything it's arrogance to demand that everyone in the world must confirm in every way including the pronunciation of any word that is spelled the same as in English to your pronunciation and if there was a "New World Order" (you realize that's a conspiracy theory about a world government right?) they'd no doubt mandate a common language and I doubt it would be Danish.

To reiterate: Get a ****ing grip, and if you can't or won't pronounce Leopard in Danish then don't. I'm reasonably sure no one is going to come and pick you up with black helicopters.

P.S. The most spoken language in the world is Mandarin, not English.

+1 to this. One of the great and refreshing things about the Tour is the the almighty English-speaking world doesn't yet own it. Plus, as languages go, English is a baby-- take away all its words that came from other cultures, and you'd be left with mostly gobbles, grunts, and maybe a few terms dealing with money and war.;)

What I notice these days is that Contador is getting fiercer in his interviews. Saying not so nice things about the Schlecks and telling he's going to crack everyone. Not his usual style, but he must be pretty confident :p He even said god damn it while being interviewed today lol.

Did he said he was going to crack everyone? I didn't read that or heard that in the spanish media, he just said that he had to try , about the Schlecks he said "It's not a surprise that they don't attack, but I don't understand" "they are the whole time watching me, but I have to make my race" or something like that

I dunno if this is an actual depreciation but I think this Twitter-quote from Magnus Backsted is quite funny:

Why the hell are the Schleck brothers riding looking backwards all the time. No wonder they crash a lot and find downhills tricky!!!

Don't call it soccer bro, it's football (the best sport in the world).
I wish Les Murray was a cycling commentator - best pronunciation of a foreign names, bar none!

If only Martin Tyler was a cycling commentator too!

Erm...it is called soccer in my country. I will call it what I want!

I had to shake my head at Frank Schleck, after yesterday's stage, crapping on the same "it's too dangerous","no-one wants a race decided by a descent" crapola that Pandy had said the day before.

I'd call them w**kers, but that may also imply they have balls.Obviously not.

toughen up

whaaaa whaaa the descents are too fast and dont suit frank and i. think about the riders of the early 1900's Andy, dont think they enjoyed the hotmix. The Schleck sisters need a makeover.

What is it with these guys and ridiculous excuses? That didn't happen. Even if CE was boxed in a bit, there is no way AS was riding where CE couldn't pass. The comment made it seem that AS was weaving all over the road like a drunk (it's July, not September). It's not as if CE was a minute behind and caught AS after a long descent. It was a few seconds at most. Not enough to get up to full descending speed.

Now CE has [re-]joined the Schleck whining club.

which means one thing. evans is getting very tired. hopefully thet start on first climb today than eveans could lose 10 minutes

I'm waiting to see the reaction when some Danish tourists say "Yorg Vashington" while looking around DC...

I'm sorry, but you just confirmed exactly what I said.

Your stance is that these guys are pros, and good pros, therefore they can do no wrong, or certainly nothing so bad as to allow mere mortals to pass comment other than in awe.

Well I'm afraid that's bull****. It is precisely because they are pros, paid because we watch them, that we are entitled to point out when they make foolish errors. And being very physically talented does not prevent them making jaw dropping tactical errors. The Schleck family is either 'simple' or emotionally confused, and it is making the talented brother perform a long long way below his physical capabilities.

Told you not to bash a good rider. They'll come back and punch your mustache off. HAHA

Luckily Andy showed he can indeed ride a bike. Now if he only learns to keep his mouth shut, we won't be seeing threads like this anymore.

Oh he´s allowed to talk imo. I like his ´arrogance-bluff´ usually, but he shouldn´t whine though.
