Looks like a lot of you are being sucked in by a troll whose first post was in support of BPC. ..

to be honest im more confused than sucked in. I cant decide if hes a 17 year old virgin who sits at home watching wwe and touching himself, or an overweight drunken hillbilly who believes women cook and men drink beer.

I really am confused. his views on womens competition are just bizarre. I really wish a female pro would come on this thread and challenge him to a fight.

The fact that WWE, Monster Truck Rallies (incorrectly pluralised) and porn are the three things you instantly think of when you want to watch something that isn't "the best of objective human physical capability" is hilarious. Do you also listen to Motley Crüe and beat your wife?

Why WWE/Monster Truck Rallies? They are some examples of commercially viable, somewhat physical niche athletic entertainment with colorful mainstream connotations. I suggest sport and entertainment form a blurred continuum, and professional women's cycling fits into this continuum along the same lines as WWE and Monster Truckin', without the same level of commerical success.

Why porn? It's ubiquitous, highly profitable, and pays its female stars FAR MORE than its male stars, with correspondingly higher press profiles/webhits. It also is a form of physical, quasi-athletic entertainment.

I'd write more, but I've got a wife to beat . . . gotta Kickstart My Heart . . .

Sailing - there are large boats where physical efforts are minimized and you dont even need grinders. And sailing a little boat at mediocre speed like an FV or a Lazer doesn't exactly require strength or agility training.

wow you are really showing your ignorance there. Large boat sailors come in 2 varieties. the workers and the thinkers. the workers have to be very strong and fit weither they are on a grinder or not. they train several hours a day in the weights room. the guys in the bow have to lug massive sails around which take alot of man handling due the the bulk. the sail hoisters need big strong back muscles to yank on the halyards to drag the sails up the mast

as for you comments on the laser, it is one of the most physically challenging small boats there are to sail. any time the wind gets above 10 or so knots and you're basically doing a 2 hour situp to keep the boat upright and moving as fast as possible. the round nature of the hull makes them tip very easily

erm.. no, read what I said. I twittered her as as far as I know she is the only female rider that blogs for cycling news and also is on twitter. I didnt pick her particularly. There was logic in my thoughts.

Emailing Emma Pooley wouldnt really have much point to it would it.

edit: thanks gmac :D

apologies then for mis-understanding your post.

I do agree with you that it is placement more than having content that is the issue. Of course, it doesn't help that the CN front page is such a mess.

As I understand it. We are going to sail monster trucks to the WWE to watch cycling porn movies? And CN is going to review them?
I gotta lay off the MD 20/20

much easier if the result is not 80% of the pro men's don't report it...clear and like tee boxes..you should not be able to swing unless you come close. time is time..who cares your sex..fast is important ..40k faster than...x..good for you. Slower..stfu

Brodeal, it would be more interesting to address the substance of the argument (for or against) than merely calling me a troll.

What would a female pro challenging me to a fight prove? Is it your wish to silence my disagreement? If so, persuasion and force of argument might be more effective tools.

Open again. People, please remember to stop feeding the troll.

And please, if anyone wants to actually discuss women's cycling, open a thread in the appropriate sub-forum.

I will be keeping an eye on things here -- just a warning......

Simple question, why don't you ban the troll?

BUt enough of that.
If I understood correctly the website has a program in place that puts races in order of ranking and due to the fact that woman's races are ranked lower they remain at the bottom. Am I correct in thinking this? And related to this a question to someone more technical, how difficult would it be to modify the program to ensure that the woman's races are ranked higher, but remain below the most important male races? Because I understand that the male races will remain the bread and butter of the site.

not that hard.

My thought is for the next month the tour should obviously be top, but i really feel the womens giro should be the second race down on the homepage, not the mumbai memorial criterium.

I wouldn't be too fussed if they wanted to put it below the Tour of Austria; that is at least a historic event. But the Giro Donne is 2.1 rated; it's THE event on the women's calendar, and deserves to be treated like an equivalent male race. There aren't too many major races coterminous with the Tour so it should be in a good spot.
