Yeah I can understand that one! What makes it even worse is that with the strong race scene around here you see a fair few of those talented kids around and now they don't really stand out. To top it off, I'd feel uncomfortable training next to those guys in their team kit, especially when you know a few of them.Polyarmour said:I must admit I've done a complete about face on this one. I bought some cheap Chinese team outfits but I don't feel comfortable wearing them any more. From now on (for me) it's my club outfit and my own corporate outfit and that's it.
Since the formation of Greenedge here in Australia I have found it really annoying seeing people in Greenedge outfits. It used to be the only people you'd see wearing a Jayco outfit for example were the "semi pro" members of the Jayco team. To come across one of these guys (or girls) while training was always a point of interest for me. Who's that? Oh yeah, that's the U19 State TT Champ etc etc. Now every Tom **** and Harry has Jayco written across his backside and it has diminished the value of the jersey and the value of the team members achievements.

Off topic, but were you at Lakeside today?
Yeah, raced A grade. I struggled a little after the last intermediate sprint 20 laps in but finished with the bunch. Our final sprint got a little messy but we all stayed uprightPolyarmour said:Exactly, in fact it was down at the regular Southbank coffee shops that I first started feeling uncomfortable wearing a team kit when the Jayco, QAS, Drapac, guys would roll through.
Yes I was at Lakeside. 92 in my race, big crash on the last lap, I led out my team mate, dropped him off way too early due to lack of fitness but he still won despite me. Lol. Watched half of A Grade but had to go. You were there too?

I still have a Fasss Bartolo jersey but havent ridden it since this thread started
Some of the vintage team kits that are being rereleased are sweeeeet. Love the La Vie Claire and the above mentioned Fassa Borto kit too. 7-Eleven and Peugeot were cool too.simo1733 said:I think wearing vintage team kit is ok, but if you wear the current team kit especially in the country of origin , you will look like a bit of a knob.
MaillotJaune said:I have no problems with others wearing team kits. Usually, team kits are lower/middle end versions of a company's apparel line. Better chamois and materials are mostly found in the higher end garments and not in the team kits.
It's whatever floats your boat.
ElChingon said:Awe, the Fassa Bortolo Jersey is pretty cool, wear it the first weekend of the Giro fits perfectly then. That's when I wear my Mapei Jersey, its falling apart now but it just goes with that time of the year.
Just the other day I was riding in what for all intents and purposes is a glorified park, with a kind of strada bianca surrounding it. There are usually families taking a walk and small kiddos riding their tiny bikes and what not, so it's not the place to go for a serious ride, but it's pretty convenient if you only have the time for a relatively short ride, as it's right by my hometown.LongSprint said:Knock yourself out.
But don't wear a champion's jersey unless you've earned it - otherwise you look like a fool.![]()

Well, in that park, me and my mate were passed at top speed by a guy wearing a BMC world champion jersey.

"How, and when to feel Self Righteous, while passing Judgement on Others"
It's a thread that is perfectly tailored to the internet, because of the anonymity that the internet allows. Absolutely useless thread, filled with absolutely worthless opinions. I wear what I want, when I want to. It's my money, my world. As long as I'm not hurting anybody, it's none of anybody's business what I choose to wear, or what motivates me to wear any article of clothing that I choose to wear. The only thing that has to be "earned" is the money to purchase the kits that are available through any retailer, locally or online. Sorry, but every once in a while, this thread needs this kind of wake up call. Now, carry on with your persistent blathering, if you must.
Lately it's been Saxo Bank. Sportful makes a helluva Bibshort, I love them for long, hard rides. Feel like skin, and they are protective in all the right places. Although I won't be purchasing the Saxo/Tinkoff kit. Not crazy about the design. (And I ride a Specialized S-Works , so the brand on my chest doesn't conflict, I Love/Am my SpecializedElChingon said:So which is your favorite Kit?![]()
